The Options Clearing Corporation, founded in 1973 and based in Chicago, is the central counterparty clearing house for United States listed options. It steps into the middle of every trade it clears, becoming the buyer to each seller and the seller to each buyer, and it guarantees that the obligations of those contracts are met even when a participant fails. Its cleared products span equity options, index and exchange traded fund options, security futures, commodity and financial futures, options on futures, over the counter index options and securities lending transactions, and it collects margin and clearing fund deposits from the broker dealers and futures commission merchants that clear through it. OCC is registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission as a clearing agency and with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission as a derivatives clearing organization, and in July 2012 it was designated a systemically important financial market utility under Title VIII of the Dodd-Frank Act, which adds Federal Reserve oversight alongside SEC supervision.
Source
The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Designated Financial Market Utilities (Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System), Options Clearing Corporation (Wikipedia) and Cboe Holdings, Inc. Form 10-K for 2015 (SEC EDGAR). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Cboe Global Markets, Inc., as of 30 Jun 2026. Other equity investment, unchanged at $0.3 million across all periods disclosed. No ownership percentage is stated anywhere in the 10-K or 10-Q reviewed, so pct_of_target stays null rather than using the commonly reported (but not Cboe-filing-sourced) figure of OCC being equally owned by its stockholder exchanges. source
- Intercontinental Exchange, Inc.. The 40% ownership figure is individually and explicitly stated in both the FY2025 10-K and the Q2 2026 10-Q: 'We own a 40% interest in the Options Clearing Corporation, or OCC, through a direct investment by the New York Stock Exchange, or NYSE.' However, OCC's carrying value is NOT disclosed on its own: ICE's 10-Q states 'Our equity method investments include OCC and our Polymarket common share investment, among others' and reports only a single combined 'Equity method investments' balance of $499 million at June 30, 2026 (versus $414 million at December 31, 2025, when the combined balance covered OCC and Bakkt together, before Bakkt's accounting classification changed). Per the rule against attributing a combined balance to one investee, value_usd is null here; the combined balances are recorded in notes/unknowns instead, not assigned to OCC. sourcesource 2
- Nasdaq, Inc.. Nasdaq's Q2 2026 10-Q (Note 6, Investments, Equity Method Investments) and FY2025 10-K state: 'our equity method investments primarily included our 40.0% equity interest in OCC.' The word 'primarily' means the reported balance is not solely OCC: 'Equity method investments' totaled $559 million at 30 Jun 2026 and $512 million at 31 Dec 2025, a combined figure that may include smaller unnamed equity-method investees alongside OCC. Per the rule against assigning a combined balance to one investee, value_usd is left null here; the combined balances are recorded in notes and unknowns. The 40.0% ownership percentage, however, is stated explicitly and individually for OCC in the filing text (not part of the combined dollar figure), so pct_of_target is populated. Net income recognized from all equity method investments combined was $21 million (Q2 2026) and $47 million (six months ended 30 Jun 2026), described in the 10-Q as 'primarily' from OCC. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of The Options Clearing Corporation (OCC) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
