BALL
Description
Ball Corporation is an American aluminum manufacturing company headquartered in Westminster, Colorado, United States. It is best known for its early production of glass jars, lids, and related products used for home canning. Since its founding in Buffalo, New York, in 1880, when it was known as the Wooden Jacket Can Company, the Ball company has expanded and diversified into other business ventures, including aerospace technology. It eventually became the world's largest manufacturer of recyclable aluminum packaging for a variety of beverage, home and personal care applications.
Equity stakes Ball Corporation holds in other companies.
No position on this side carries a sourced value, so there is nothing to chart. The table still lists 7 of them.
Select a row or a slice for its provenance: the filing it came from, when it was measured, and the arithmetic behind it if it was modelled.
The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 773 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
773 managers reported a position, together holding 230.6m shares, or 86.6% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 266.2m shares outstanding at 1 May 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Holdings side: Ball is a joint-venture-heavy company as the brief anticipated. Its 30 Jun 2026 10-Q (Note 13, 'Other Assets') carries a combined 'Investments in affiliates' balance of $259 million (up from $257 million at 31 Dec 2025) covering six named equity-method entities: a 50 percent interest in an entity in Guatemala, a 50 percent interest in an entity in Panama, a 50 percent interest in an entity in Vietnam, a 50 percent interest in an entity in the U.S., a 33 percent (precisely 32.67 percent) interest in an entity in the U.S., and a 10 percent interest in an entity in Saudi Arabia. The FY2025 10-K's Exhibit 21.1 subsidiaries list carries an ownership-percentage column that names the actual entities behind each: Controladora Envases Universales Rexam SA plus two Guatemala affiliates (all 50%), Envases Universales Ball de Panama SA plus Envases del Istmo SA (both 50%, Panama), TBC-Ball Beverage Can Vietnam Limited and its Hong Kong holding company TBC-Ball Beverage Can Holdings Limited (both 50%), Rocky Mountain Metal Container, LLC (50%, Colorado), Boomerang Water, LLC (32.67%, Delaware), and ORG UAC Company f/k/a Ball United Arab Can Manufacturing Company (10%, Saudi Arabia, the residual stake Ball retained after selling 41 of its 51 percentage points on 27 Aug 2025 for $71 million cash). A seventh equity-method position, a 49 percent interest in Oasis Venture Holdings LLC (the Ayna.AI aluminum-cups joint venture formed 21 Mar 2025), is disclosed separately in 10-Q Note 4 and is NOT named among the six entities the $259 million balance 'primarily includes', and Ball recorded an $7-8 million loss tied to that transaction, so its value may be near zero. The combined $259 million balance is not disaggregated by entity anywhere in the 10-Q or 10-K, so every one of the seven holdings rows carries value_usd: null per the brief's rule against assigning a shared balance to one investee; the $259 million combined figure is recorded here and in unknowns rather than split. All seven pct_of_target values are read directly from the filed percentage disclosures (10-Q body text cross-checked against the FY2025 10-K Exhibit 21.1's more precise figures) and are written as whole percentages (50, 50, 50, 50, 32.67, 10, 49), not fractions.
- Exhibit 21.1 also lists several much smaller Ball affiliates using cost-method rather than equity-method accounting, none reported as holdings here because they are below the equity-method threshold and not individually valued: C-Loop Packaging Sweden AB (7%), Sekopac d.o.o. (11%, Serbia, majority owned by an unrelated third party), Slopak (0.77%, Slovenia, majority owned by an unrelated third party), Supplying Demand, Inc. d/b/a Liquid Death (0.3%, Delaware), Taiwan Supreme Metal Packaging Co., Ltd (fka Lam Soon-Ball Yamamura, 8%, Taiwan), and Thai Beverage Can Ltd. (7%, Thailand). These are listed for completeness but are not sized as holdings; see unknowns.
- Capital Group family checked and found to hold NOTHING in Ball as of Q2 2026: eight registrants read directly, all filed 13F-HR (except three that filed 13F-NT with no holdings at all: Capital Research & Management Co 0000017283, Capital Group Companies, Inc. 0000732812, Capital Group International, Inc. 0000949308). The five that filed 13F-HR for Q2 2026 (period 30 Jun 2026, all filed 12 Aug 2026) were each checked directly against CUSIP 058498106 with zero matches: Capital World Investors 0001422849, Capital International Investors 0001562230, Capital Research Global Investors 0001422848, Capital Group Investment Management Pte. Ltd. 0001939970, Capital Group Private Client Services, Inc. 0001857666, Capital International, Inc./CA/ 0000895213, Capital International Ltd /CA/ 0001065350, Capital International Sarl 0001065349. Eight registrants swept in total per the brief's warning that this family can run to six or more; none holds Ball. No row recorded; this is a genuine negative rather than an omission.
- Parnassus Investments, LLC (CIK 0000948669) appeared in Ball's 2026 DEF 14A 5%-owner table (as of 31 Dec 2025) at 13,783,566 shares, 5.18%, the fourth-largest named holder after Vanguard, BlackRock and T. Rowe Price. Checking Parnassus's own 13F-HR filings directly found ZERO shares of CUSIP 058498106 in both the Q1 2026 filing (period 31 Mar 2026, filed 12 May 2026) and the Q2 2026 filing (period 30 Jun 2026, filed 29 Jul 2026). Parnassus had therefore already fully exited its Ball position by 31 Mar 2026, before the March 2026 proxy was even printed (the proxy's ownership data is dated 31 Dec 2025, so the exit happened sometime in Q1 2026). Recorded here as a note per the brief's rule that a holder found at zero is a note, not a null row.
- Self-gate computed from this final file, following the chart's own arithmetic (members at full value, an aggregate reduced only by members that roll into it; here no register row rolls into another, so every row counts at full value): 10 register rows, 113,266,004 total shares (Vanguard family 31,701,782 + BlackRock 21,009,466 + T. Rowe Price family 12,728,562 + State Street 13,416,598 + JPMorgan 7,411,580 + Morgan Stanley 6,889,505 + Geode 7,096,160 + Invesco 5,040,521 + Fidelity 6,434,199 + directors/officers aggregate 1,537,631), against shares_outstanding 264,703,357 = 42.79% of the company. This sits inside the brief's expected 25-45% band.
- Implied per-share price check across every institutional row: Vanguard family ~$62.40, BlackRock ~$62.40, T. Rowe Price family ~$62.40, State Street ~$62.40, JPMorgan ~$62.13, Morgan Stanley ~$62.40, Geode ~$62.16, Invesco ~$62.40, Fidelity ~$62.39, all dated 30 Jun 2026 and all within a tight $62.1-$62.4 band, a strong independent cross-check that every row is the same CUSIP 058498106 common-stock instrument at the same date. This is also close to the live intraday price used for market_cap_usd, $62.55 on 19 Aug 2026, about seven weeks after the 13F date, which is the expected small drift.
- Current price used for market_cap_usd is a live intraday quote (Nasdaq API, $62.55, 19 Aug 2026 3:25pm ET) multiplied by the 31 Jul 2026 cover-page share count from the Q2 2026 10-Q; the two dates do not match exactly (about three weeks apart) because no single filing carries both a current price and a current share count. Disclosed rather than treated as precise.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The combined $259 million 'Investments in affiliates' balance (30 Jun 2026; $257 million at 31 Dec 2025) covering the Guatemala, Panama, Vietnam, U.S. (Rocky Mountain), U.S. (Boomerang Water) and Saudi Arabia (ORG UAC) equity-method entities is not broken out per entity in any filing found; searched the 10-Q, the FY2025 10-K, and Exhibit 21.1 without finding a per-entity carrying value. No value_usd could be sourced for any of the seven holdings rows.
- No revenue, net income, or balance-sheet size was found for any individual JV (Controladora Envases Universales Rexam SA, Envases Universales Ball de Panama SA, TBC-Ball Beverage Can Vietnam Limited, Rocky Mountain Metal Container LLC, Boomerang Water LLC, ORG UAC Company, or Oasis Venture Holdings LLC), so no modelled value could be derived from a revenue or earnings multiple either; per the brief, an unsized field was left null rather than guessed.
- The small cost-method affiliates named in Exhibit 21.1 (C-Loop Packaging Sweden AB 7%, Sekopac d.o.o. 11%, Slopak 0.77%, Supplying Demand Inc d/b/a Liquid Death 0.3%, Taiwan Supreme Metal Packaging Co 8%, Thai Beverage Can Ltd 7%) were identified but not sized or added as holdings rows; no equity-method or fair-value disclosure was found for any of them.
- No 13D or 13G filed directly against Ball Corporation stock was searched independently of the proxy's own 5%-owner table and the register sweep performed here, so any strategic or sovereign holder below 5% and outside the top 8-12 13F holders checked would be missed.
- Named individual director and executive officer holdings (Bryant, Causey, Cave, Erter, Fisher, Ives, Lewis, Lim-Johnson, Niekamp, Panichella, Penegor, Rabbitt, Ross, Sapp, Taylor, Yu) were read from the 2026 proxy but not itemized as separate register rows since all are below 1% individually; only the 21-person aggregate is recorded.
- Market cap is a computed figure (live intraday price times the 31 Jul 2026 cover-page share count), not read directly off a page that states market cap; see the note on the date mismatch.
