Windfield Holdings is an Australian holding company whose sole business is its ownership of Talison Lithium Pty Ltd, the operator of the Greenbushes lithium mine in Western Australia. Greenbushes sits about 250 kilometres south of Perth and is the largest hard rock lithium mine in the world, extracting spodumene ore that is concentrated on site in a series of chemical grade processing plants and then shipped to conversion plants that turn it into battery grade lithium hydroxide and carbonate. The joint venture partners in Windfield are Albemarle and Tianqi Lithium Energy Australia, which is itself a venture between China's Tianqi Lithium and the Australian miner IGO, and each side feeds its share of the concentrate to its own downstream conversion assets, Albemarle's Kemerton plant and Tianqi's Kwinana plant.
Source
Windfield Holdings Pty. Ltd. (owns 100% of Talison Lithium Pty. Ltd., operator of the Greenbushes mine) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Wikipedia: Greenbushes mine, Talison Lithium corporate site, Albemarle Corporation Form 10-K for 2023 (SEC) and Greenbushes hard-rock lithium mine to undergo Australia-first IRMA scrutiny (International Mining). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Albemarle Corporation, as of 30 Jun 2026. Albemarle holds a 49 percent equity interest in Windfield. Windfield is considered a variable interest entity (VIE) because the ownership parties share risks and benefits disproportionate to voting interests, but Albemarle is not the primary beneficiary so it is NOT consolidated; it is Albemarle's most significant unconsolidated VIE. The carrying amount of the 49 percent interest was $985.0 million at 30 June 2026 (up from $735.3 million at 31 December 2025 and $583.6 million at 31 December 2024), disclosed individually in the Q2 2026 10-Q, so this is not part of the combined equity-method bucket problem. pct_of_target is 49 (a percentage), matching the words 'holds a 49% equity interest' in the filing. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Windfield Holdings Pty. Ltd. (owns 100% of Talison Lithium Pty. Ltd., operator of the Greenbushes mine) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
