Viridium is a German life insurance consolidator based in Neu-Isenburg that buys closed books of life policies from other insurers and administers them to maturity, a business known as run off. It takes over the policies, migrates them onto a single IT platform, cuts the cost of servicing them and manages the backing assets, aiming to keep paying policyholders while releasing capital for the sellers. Created in 2013 and 2014 by Cinven and Hannover Re around the acquired Heidelberger Lebensversicherung, it now carries the liabilities of Proxalto, Heidelberger, Skandia and Entis Lebensversicherung, serving about 3.4 million policyholders with roughly 67 billion euros of assets under management at the end of 2023 and around five percent of the German life market. A consortium agreed in March 2025 to buy the group from Cinven in a transaction valued at about 3.5 billion euros, completing in August 2025.
Source
Viridium Group files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Allianz: Consortium of top-tier insurers and asset managers to acquire leading European life insurance consolidator Viridium, Viridium: Consortium of top-tier insurers and asset managers to acquire Viridium, Wikipedia (German): Viridium and Allianz: Consortium completes acquisition of Viridium. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- BlackRock, Inc.. Named in the FY2025 10-K's list of minority investments. A BlackRock press release confirms BlackRock joined a consortium with Allianz and T&D Holdings to acquire Viridium Group (a German life-insurance run-off platform) from Cinven; Viridium remains an independent, non-listed platform. No BlackRock share count, percentage or carrying value is disclosed in either filing. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Viridium Group where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
