Transource Energy is a competitive electric transmission developer jointly owned by American Electric Power and Evergy and run from Kansas City, Missouri. Rather than serving a franchised utility territory, it bids for transmission projects that regional grid operators such as PJM Interconnection put out to competitive solicitation, then designs, builds, owns and operates the winning lines and substations. Projects already in service include Iatan to Nashua, Sibley to Nebraska City, Sooner to Wekiwa and Clendenin to Walton, while Beckham County to Potter, Mathewson to Redbud, Rice to Ringgold and the Bramah substation are in development or construction. It also builds through further ventures: Valley Link Transmission Company with Dominion Energy and FirstEnergy Transmission for two 765 kilovolt lines across West Virginia, Virginia and Maryland, and Midcontinent Grid Solutions with BHE Transmission in the MISO footprint.
Source
Transource Energy, LLC files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from About Us (Transource Energy), Projects (Transource Energy), AEP Affiliates Selected to Complete Approximately $1.7 Billion of Transmission Investments in PJM Region (PR Newswire) and Transource and BHE Transmission to Build Nearly 200-Mile 765-kV Transmission Line in Wisconsin (PR Newswire). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Evergy, Inc.. Evergy Transmission Company, LLC (a wholly owned Evergy subsidiary) owns 13.5% of Transource Energy, LLC, with the remaining 86.5% owned by AEP Transmission Holding Company, LLC, a subsidiary of American Electric Power Company, Inc. Transource develops competitive electric transmission projects; Evergy Transmission Company accounts for its investment under the equity method. No investee-specific carrying value or fair value is disclosed in the Q2 FY2026 10-Q or the FY2025 10-K. The Evergy consolidated balance sheet's 'Other' line within Other Assets ($592.5 million at 31 Dec 2025, $576.2 million at 31 Dec 2024, per the FY2025 10-K) is not broken out by equity-method investee and is not attributed to Transource here; it likely also covers Prairie Wind and other non-equity items. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Transource Energy, LLC where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
