SAIC General Motors Corporation Limited, known as SAIC-GM, develops, assembles and sells Buick, Cadillac and Chevrolet vehicles for the Chinese market and for export. Founded on 12 June 1997 as Shanghai General Motors and renamed in 2015, it is based in the Jinqiao area of Shanghai's Pudong district, where its site covers about 5.9 million square feet and holds three vehicle plants: the original North plant from 1998, the South plant from 2005 and the East or Cadillac plant from 2016. It also runs a branch factory at Wuhan opened in 2015 that builds Buick Electra and Cadillac electric models, and it holds interests in the Yantai vehicle and powertrain ventures and in the group's telematics, finance and leasing arms. Sales have fallen sharply, to 562,000 vehicles in 2025 from about 1.4 million in 2020, prompting plant closures and restructuring, and in August 2026 the two partners extended the venture to 2047 with the range narrowed to Buick and Cadillac. The venture pairs SAIC Motor with General Motors, which supplies vehicle architectures and brands.
Source
SAIC General Motors Corp., Ltd. (SGM) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from SAIC-GM (Wikipedia), General Motors Company Form 10-K for 2025 (SEC EDGAR) and GM and SAIC extend their joint venture to 2047 (Carscoops). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- General Motors Company. FY2025 10-K China JV ownership table: 'SAIC General Motors Corp., Ltd. (SGM) 50%' at both 31 Dec 2025 and 31 Dec 2024, explicitly described as 'a joint venture we established with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corporation (SAIC) (50%)'. This and the seven other Automotive China JVs below share ONE combined carrying value in the 10-K, 'Automotive China JVs carrying amount $1,105 million' at 31 Dec 2025 (down from $1,474 million at 31 Dec 2024), which is not broken out per entity. Per the brief's rule against sizing a combined balance to one investee, value_usd is left null here; the combined $1,105 million figure is recorded once in notes/unknowns rather than assigned to any single JV. GM recorded a $0.6 billion restructuring charge related to SGM in 2025 (following $2.0 billion of additional equity losses in 2024) and expects further SGM restructuring charges in 2026, per the 10-K MD&A. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of SAIC General Motors Corp., Ltd. (SGM) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
