The MARBL Lithium Joint Venture is an unincorporated joint venture that holds the Wodgina hard rock lithium mine in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, roughly 1,500 kilometres north of Perth and inland from Port Hedland. Albemarle Corporation and Mineral Resources Limited each hold half of it, with Mineral Resources acting as operator and running exploration, mining and processing at the site. Wodgina is an open pit operation on one of the world's largest hard rock lithium deposits, feeding three processing trains with combined capacity of about 820,000 tonnes a year of spodumene concentrate at 5.5 percent Li2O, which is trucked to Port Hedland for export and refined elsewhere into the lithium hydroxide and carbonate used in batteries. The venture was restructured in 2023 to move Wodgina to an even split and give Albemarle full ownership of the Kemerton conversion plant.
Source
MARBL Lithium Joint Venture (Wodgina hard-rock lithium mine, Western Australia) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Albemarle closes amended MARBL lithium joint venture arrangement, Wodgina, Mineral Resources and Simplified MARBL JV agreement reached, Mineral Resources. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Albemarle Corporation. MARBL is repeatedly described as a '50%-owned unincorporated joint venture'. Unlike Windfield, MARBL does not appear in Albemarle's 'significant unconsolidated investments' equity-method ownership table and has no separately disclosed equity-method carrying value; Albemarle appears to recognize its proportionate 50 percent share of Wodgina's assets, liabilities, production and costs directly (a joint operation) rather than carrying a discrete investment balance, consistent with production being reported at '50% of Wodgina's mineral resources/reserves attributable to the Company's interest'. No dollar value could be sourced, so value_usd is null rather than modelled. pct_of_target is 50 (a percentage), matching 'we own a 50% interest in Wodgina' and 'Albemarle and MRL each own 50% of Wodgina' in the filing. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of MARBL Lithium Joint Venture (Wodgina hard-rock lithium mine, Western Australia) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
