Kieback&Peter is a Berlin based building automation company that develops and manufactures the controls which regulate heating, ventilation, air conditioning, lighting and energy use inside commercial buildings. Founded in 1927 and still run by the founding family, it makes roughly 1,300 products spanning room and plant controllers, sensors and actuators, fire protection equipment and the software that ties them together, and it sells them alongside data driven services such as energy monitoring and remote optimisation of building performance. The group employs about 1,700 people across some 50 locations, with its strongest presence in Germany and the wider EMEA region. In late 2025 it agreed a minority investment and a commercialisation partnership with the American climate equipment maker Trane Technologies, under which the two combine their controls and equipment offerings for European, Middle Eastern and African customers while Kieback&Peter continues to operate independently under its own management.
Source
Kieback&Peter GmbH & Co. KG files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Kieback&Peter and Trane Technologies Join Forces to Accelerate Sustainable Building Innovation (Kieback&Peter), Trane Technologies and Kieback&Peter Join Forces To Accelerate Sustainable Building Innovation (3BL Media) and Kieback&Peter secures strategic minority investment from Trane Technologies (Investec). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Trane Technologies plc. Trane Technologies' Q2 2026 10-Q (Note on business acquisitions) states: 'During the first quarter of 2026, the Company also acquired a 49% interest in Kieback&Peter, a provider of building automation hardware, software and solutions across the building lifecycle and energy management. The Company's minority interest is reported as an equity method investment within the EMEA segment.' Same language repeated in the MD&A section and carried forward from the FY2025 10-K, which described the deal as pending ('will be reported'). No purchase price, fair value or carrying value specific to this investment is disclosed. The $314.8 million combined purchase consideration disclosed elsewhere in the same note covers a separate group of acquisitions (LiquidStack remaining interest, Transport refrigeration distributors, an exclusive Trane sales channel) and explicitly excludes Kieback&Peter, which is described in its own following paragraph headed 'Equity method investments'. The balance sheet line 'Other noncurrent assets' ($1,976.1 million at 30 June 2026) is a combined balance covering many items besides this one equity investment, so per the no-combined-balance rule it is not used to size this holding; value_usd is left null rather than assigned from that combined figure. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Kieback&Peter GmbH & Co. KG where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
