Jordan Bromine Company is a chemicals producer that extracts bromine from Dead Sea brine and converts it into bromine derivatives at a plant in the Safi valley, south of the Dead Sea in Jordan, with a distribution terminal at the port of Aqaba. It was incorporated in 1999 as a fifty fifty venture between the Arab Potash Company, which supplies the bromine rich end brine left over from its potash operation and the site infrastructure, and the American speciality chemicals producer Albemarle, which brings the process technology and sells the output through its global marketing network. The plant makes elemental bromine along with hydrogen bromide, calcium bromide, sodium bromide and the flame retardant tetrabromobisphenol A, plus chlorine and caustic products, and ships to customers in more than thirty countries across the Middle East, Europe, North America and Asia Pacific.
Source
Jordan Bromine Company Limited (JBC) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from About Us (Jordan Bromine Company), Jordan (Albemarle global locations) and Jordan Bromine Company member profile (American Chamber of Commerce in Jordan). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Albemarle Corporation. Albemarle holds a 50% equity interest in JBC but CONSOLIDATES it (it is the primary beneficiary due to operational and financial control), so JBC is not an equity-method investment and carries no separate market/carrying value in the filings; APC's 50% is reported as a noncontrolling interest. Total noncontrolling interests were $248.096 million at 31 December 2025 and are described as arising mainly from JBC (JBC declared dividends of $99.8 million in 2025, of which $18.2 million was paid to noncontrolling interests), but that NCI balance values APC's 50% stake in JBC's book equity, not Albemarle's, so it is not entered here. Included per the research brief's instruction to record material stakes even when consolidated for accounting purposes, since it is a 50/50 structure rather than a wholly owned subsidiary. pct_of_target is 50 (a percentage), matching 'holds a 50% equity interest in Jordan Bromine Company Limited' in the filing. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Jordan Bromine Company Limited (JBC) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
