Indelpro, S.A. de C.V. produces polypropylene resins at the Altamira petrochemical complex on Mexico's Gulf coast, in the state of Tamaulipas. It runs the first polypropylene plant built in Mexico, has installed capacity of about 640,000 tonnes a year, and sells its resin under the Profax and Valtec names to converters serving packaging, fibre, automotive and appliance markets. The business is a joint venture between LyondellBasell, which supplies the polypropylene process technology, and Alpek, the petrochemical arm of the Mexican industrial group Alfa. Operations began in the early 1990s, the partners added a propylene splitter at Altamira in 1999 to secure monomer supply, and a second polypropylene line followed later in the decade that followed.
