ChemCat Holdings, LP is the limited partnership formed to hold Ketjen's refining solutions business after that business was carved out of Albemarle and sold to affiliates of the private equity firm KPS Capital Partners, a deal signed on 25 October 2025 and closed on 2 March 2026. The underlying business, run from Houston, makes catalysts for oil refiners and petrochemical producers: fluid catalytic cracking catalysts that convert heavy feed into gasoline, propylene and butylene, hydroprocessing catalysts that clean sulphur out of naphtha, kerosene and diesel, and catalysts for renewable fuels and plastics recycling, backed by technical service and digital monitoring tools. It runs four plants, in Houston, Rio de Janeiro, Amsterdam and Minato in Japan, with research and support sites in the Americas, Europe and Asia, and sells into 25 markets. Ketjen's performance catalyst solutions arm and Albemarle's former Eurecat stake were both excluded from the structure.
Source
ChemCat Holdings, LP (Ketjen refining-solutions joint venture, "Holdco") files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Albemarle Corporation Form 10-Q for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, Ketjen's acquisition by KPS Capital Partners now complete (Ketjen) and Albemarle completes sale of controlling stake in Ketjen to KPS Capital Partners. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Albemarle Corporation. New position, formed 2 March 2026. Albemarle's investment is measured via a Black-Scholes option-pricing model (Level 3) because its common units are junior to preferred equity held by the other ownership group. The Q2 2026 10-Q discloses only a segment-level bucket, 'Corporate and all other' equity-method investments of $38.843 million at 30 June 2026 (down from $82.056 million at 31 December 2025, which then still included Nippon Ketjen and Fabrica Carioca before their divestiture). This bucket is not confirmed to contain only the Holdco stake, so value_usd is left null per the combined-balance rule rather than assigning the bucket figure to this one holding; the $38.843 million figure is recorded in notes/unknowns instead. pct_of_target is 49 (a percentage), matching 'retained an initial 49% ownership interest in the Ketjen joint venture' in the filing. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of ChemCat Holdings, LP (Ketjen refining-solutions joint venture, "Holdco") where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
