The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 4,374 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
4,374 managers reported a position, together holding 2.79bn shares, or 35.1% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What the filings say against what the research found
Every holding above was also resolved directly from EDGAR through a precedence rule: the company's own filing outranks a 13D or 13G, which outranks a 13F, which outranks hand research. A 13F reports only US listed, long, US custodied positions, so it is a floor rather than a level. Where sources disagree the higher one leads and the lower is kept beside it.
1 position on this page is marked corrected, meaning a higher-tier filing reports a materially different figure. Select the row to see both numbers and the form each came from.

What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Exchange: the task brief describes Walmart as NYSE listed, but Walmart's FY2026 Form 10-K cover page states that its common stock and all of its listed notes are registered on The Nasdaq Stock Market LLC. The same 10-K still uses the New York Stock Exchange closing price of 31 July 2025 for the non-affiliate market value calculation, which is consistent with a listing transfer between those two dates. Exchange is recorded here as NASDAQ on the strength of the current cover page.
- Walton family, single line or several: it is several, and the lines overlap. Walton Enterprises, LLC directly holds 3,002,673,393 shares. Walton Family Holdings Trust separately holds 513,524,456 shares, and Walton Enterprises exercises voting power over those shares under an irrevocable proxy while the Trust's trustees retain dispositive power. Walton Enterprises' reported 3,516,197,849 total therefore already includes the Trust's 513,524,456. Adding the two register lines together would double count. The family aggregate is 3,516,197,849 shares, 44.11%, as of 10 April 2026.
- Walmart has a single class of common stock, one vote per share, so the Walton 44.11% economic stake is also 44.11% of the vote. The proxy states the board does not rely on controlled-company exemptions from stock exchange independence rules.
- Walton figures disagree between two filings and both are recorded here. The Schedule 13D/A filed 3 March 2026, event date 27 February 2026, reports Walton Enterprises at 3,523,409,231 shares and 44.21%, and Walton Family Holdings Trust at 520,735,838 shares and 6.53%, using 7,970,166,964 shares outstanding as of 2 December 2025. The 2026 proxy, dated 10 April 2026, is more recent and reports 3,516,197,849 and 44.11%, and 513,524,456 and 6.44%, using 7,970,990,515 shares outstanding. The register above uses the proxy. The 13D/A explains the decline as distributions from the Trust to its beneficiaries plus sales to meet investment, personal and charitable objectives.
- Buybacks are moving the denominator: shares outstanding were 7,970,166,964 on 2 December 2025, 7,972,402,501 on 11 March 2026, 7,970,990,515 on 10 April 2026, and 7,958,079,155 on 27 May 2026. The register percentages therefore rest on slightly different denominators depending on the filing date, which is why each row carries its own as_of.
- Percentages for the 13F holders were computed by this research against 7,958,079,155 shares outstanding as of 27 May 2026, except Vanguard, which was computed against 7,970,166,964 as of 2 December 2025 to match its 31 December 2025 measurement date. The 13F filings themselves report shares and dollar value only, not a percentage.
- Vanguard is stale and disaggregated. Vanguard's Schedule 13G/A filed 27 March 2026 reports zero shares, because on 12 January 2026 Vanguard carried out an internal realignment under SEC Release No. 34-39538 and its subsidiaries now report beneficial ownership separately from The Vanguard Group, Inc. The last 13F-HR filed under The Vanguard Group's own CIK covers 31 December 2025, so the 439,957,146 figure is roughly eight months stale and the current Vanguard-complex position is split across filers not identified in this task.
- Walmart itself files a Form 13F. The Q2 2026 report, period 30 June 2026, filed 7 August 2026, contains exactly three positions with a total value of $735,998,250: Symbotic, Green Dot and Klarna. That short list is the whole of Walmart's US-listed equity portfolio; everything else material is either a consolidated subsidiary or an unlisted stake.
- Symbotic is by far the largest holding but only a fraction of it appears in the 13F. The 13F reports the 15,000,000 registered Class A shares at $674,250,000. The other 61,350,823 shares of exposure sit in OpCo Units of Symbotic Holdings LLC, which are not 13F reportable securities. Reading the 13F alone understates the position by about a factor of five.
- Does Walmart retain a stake in anything it has sold down: on the evidence fetched, only Asda. JD.com is fully gone: the FY2026 10-K states that in August 2024 the Company sold its investment in JD.com for net proceeds of approximately $3.6 billion and recorded a realized loss of $0.3 billion. Japan is fully gone: Walmart sold 85% of Seiyu to KKR and Rakuten in 2021 and, on the reporting fetched, sold the remaining 15% in the March 2025 sale of Seiyu to Trial Holdings for 380.0 billion yen, about $2.54 billion, so there is no residual Japanese retail stake. Neither Seiyu nor Symbotic is named anywhere in the FY2026 10-K text.
- India is control, not a minority stake, and is therefore excluded from holdings. The FY2026 10-K describes Flipkart and PhonePe as majority stakes acquired in 2018 and lists India among the majority-owned subsidiaries within the Walmart International segment. Both are consolidated. PhonePe is referenced in the Q1 FY2027 10-Q only in connection with a non-cash share-based compensation charge. No current ownership percentage for either is stated in the filings fetched.
- China is control too: the FY2026 10-K lists China among the countries where Walmart International operates through wholly-owned subsidiaries. Walmart's former Chinese minority position, the JD.com stake, was the one sold in August 2024. Walmart's Dada Nexus position, on which it last filed a Schedule 13G/A in September 2024, does not appear in the Q2 2026 13F.
- Mexico is excluded on the same control logic. Walmart de Mexico y Centroamerica is a majority-owned, separately listed subsidiary consolidated into Walmart International. Secondary sources put Walmart's stake at approximately 70%, but no filing or page containing that figure was fetched in this task, so it is not recorded as a sized holding.
- The FY2026 10-K does not name a single investee. It discloses only aggregate fair values: equity investments at Level 1 inputs $1,037m and Level 2 inputs $3,462m, debt investments at Level 3 inputs $1,176m, total $5,675m at 31 January 2026, against $4,222m a year earlier. The Q1 FY2027 10-Q gives $1,033m, $3,784m and a comparable total at 30 April 2026. Walmart states its equity method investments and variable interest entities are immaterial to the consolidated financial statements, which is why no equity method investee is named.
- The Level 2 equity investments line, $3,784m at 30 April 2026, is the largest single pool and is measured on quoted prices for similar securities. It is materially larger than the $735,998,250 the 13F reports, and the difference is unexplained in the filings fetched. The Symbotic OpCo Units are the most likely main component but Walmart does not say so.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Walmart's exact retained percentage in Asda. Looked in the FY2026 10-K, which confirms a retained investment in Asda exists but characterises it as a debt investment inside an immaterial aggregate, and in a Grocery Dive report of the original transaction, which states only that Walmart retained an ongoing commercial relationship and a board seat and gives no percentage. Widely reported as 10% but no page containing that figure was fetched, so it is left null.
- Walmart's current ownership percentages in Flipkart, PhonePe and Walmart de Mexico. Searched the FY2026 10-K and Q1 FY2027 10-Q; both describe them as majority-owned or wholly-owned without stating a percentage. They are consolidated subsidiaries and so are excluded from holdings in any case.
- The composition of the $3,784m Level 2 equity investments line at 30 April 2026 and the $3,462m at 31 January 2026. Neither the 10-K nor the 10-Q names any constituent investee.
- Green Dot and Klarna percentages of target. Walmart's 13F gives share counts and values but not percentages, and the two issuers' shares outstanding were not fetched in this task.
- Vanguard's current post-realignment position in Walmart. The 27 March 2026 Schedule 13G/A reports zero for The Vanguard Group, Inc. itself and does not name the successor filers, and no 13F-HR under Vanguard's own CIK exists after the 31 December 2025 period.
- Ticker and exchange for Klarna Group plc were not confirmed by any page fetched in this task; only the CUSIP G5279N105 and the description 'ordinary shares' from Walmart's 13F are sourced, so target_ticker is left null.
- Norges Bank, sovereign wealth funds and other strategic register holders below 5%. Walmart's EDGAR page shows no Schedule 13G from any institution in the current period, because the Walton block leaves every institution under the 5% threshold, and no Norges Bank 13F was located.
- Retail and float share of the register. No page was fetched that reconciles insider, institutional and retail ownership to 100%.
