The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 5,003 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
5,003 managers reported a position, together holding 1.64bn shares, or 64.3% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What the filings say against what the research found
Every holding above was also resolved directly from EDGAR through a precedence rule: the company's own filing outranks a 13D or 13G, which outranks a 13F, which outranks hand research. A 13F reports only US listed, long, US custodied positions, so it is a floor rather than a level. Where sources disagree the higher one leads and the lower is kept beside it.
No position here shows a material gap between sources.

What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Voting control is the register story. As of 1 Apr 2026 Mark Zuckerberg beneficially owned 341,823,978 of the 342,377,716 Class B shares outstanding, or 99.8 percent of the class, plus 639,347 Class A shares held of record by Chan Zuckerberg Biohub and 92,993 Class A shares issuable on RSU settlement within 60 days. Class B carries ten votes per share and Class A one. That gives him 60.8 percent of total voting power on about 13.4 percent of the shares outstanding. All current executive officers and directors as a group held 60.9 percent of the voting power. Meta is a controlled company under Nasdaq governance rules, and a shareholder proposal to eliminate the dual-class structure was on the 2026 proxy again.
- pct_of_company in the register is computed as shares divided by 2,547,506,225 total shares outstanding across both classes as of 24 Jul 2026. Percentages that appear in the filings themselves are percentages of Class A only, and are higher: Vanguard Capital Management filed 7.49 percent, BlackRock is shown at 7.2 percent and FMR at 4.4 percent of Class A. Conflating the two is the standard error with Meta because Class B is not publicly traded and never appears in a 13F.
- Market cap is derived: 2,547,506,225 shares outstanding at 24 Jul 2026 multiplied by the $589.85 close on 14 Aug 2026, giving $1,502,646,546,816. stockanalysis.com displayed $1.50 trillion on the same quote, so the two agree.
- Meta does not file a 13F. Its entire listed-equity exposure appears as one unnamed line in the fair value table: marketable equity securities of $3.543bn at 30 Jun 2026 against $5.992bn at 31 Dec 2025, all Level 1. Meta recorded net unrealized losses on marketable equity securities of $733m in Q2 2026 and $2.30bn in the first half of 2026.
- The holdings list is short because Meta's filings only name three investees. Total non-marketable equity investments were $30.157bn at 30 Jun 2026: $20.751bn under the measurement alternative and $9.406bn under the equity method. Scale AI at $13.80bn and Jio Platforms at $5.82bn, both dated 31 Dec 2025, account for about $19.6bn of the measurement-alternative bucket, and the Hyperion venture at $2.92bn for part of the equity-method bucket. The remainder is not broken out by investee anywhere in the filings.
- No large new equity stake appears in the first half of 2026. Purchases of non-marketable equity investments were $1.670bn in the six months to 30 Jun 2026 against $15.214bn in the same period of 2025, which was the Scale AI year. The Q2 2026 10-Q names no venture other than the Louisiana campus.
- Vanguard reorganised. The Vanguard Group, Inc. filed a 13G/A on 27 Mar 2026 reporting zero beneficial ownership of Meta as of 13 Mar 2026 following an internal realignment on 12 Jan 2026 under which subsidiaries and business divisions report on a disaggregated basis. Only one successor unit, Vanguard Capital Management LLC, had filed as at 30 Apr 2026, at 163,839,861 shares. The true aggregate Vanguard position is therefore likely larger than the number recorded here, but no filing supports a larger figure.
- The BlackRock line is stale and both figures are recorded here. Meta's April 2026 proxy shows 157,849,942 Class A shares, 7.2 percent of Class A and 2.8 percent of voting power, but its footnote traces that to a Schedule 13G/A BlackRock filed on 12 Feb 2024, so the measurement date is 31 Dec 2023. As a cross-check, the last 13F on EDGAR under BlackRock Finance, Inc. (CIK 0001364742), for the quarter ended 30 Jun 2024, reports 161,164,359 Meta shares. No current BlackRock filing for Meta was located.
- FMR's two filings for the same date disagree slightly. The 13G/A filed 6 Aug 2026 reports 96,176,347.85 shares, 4.4 percent of Class A, as of 30 Jun 2026. FMR's own 13F for the same quarter, filed 13 Aug 2026, reports 95,895,744 shares worth $54,017,112,988. The 13G figure is recorded here as the beneficial-ownership number, rounded to a whole share.
- Meta's Hyperion exposure is far larger than the $2.92bn equity carrying value. Maximum exposure to loss related to the venture was $46.03bn at 30 Jun 2026, made up of the equity carrying value, $12.31bn of aggregate initial lease commitments starting in 2029, estimated future funding commitments toward roughly $27bn of total development costs, and residual value guarantees with an aggregate threshold of about $28bn that declines over time. Meta has recorded no liability for those guarantees. Meta also reports other unconsolidated VIEs with maximum exposure to loss of $6.41bn at 30 Jun 2026, none of them named.
- The 13F values recorded here are in whole dollars as filed. State Street's $51,841,811,018 over 92,033,963 shares implies $563.3 per share at 30 Jun 2026, which is consistent across the State Street, Norges Bank and Morgan Stanley filings and confirms the values are dollars rather than thousands.
- Scale AI figures disagree between sources. Press reporting from June 2025 put the investment at $14.3bn for 49 percent of a company valued above $29bn. Meta's FY2025 10-K carries the position at $13.80bn. The filed carrying value is recorded here.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The identity of the $3.543bn of marketable equity securities at 30 Jun 2026. Meta names no listed investee anywhere in the Q2 2026 10-Q, the FY2025 10-K or the 2026 proxy, and it files no 13F, so there is no filing route to the answer. The EssilorLuxottica stake is the only credible candidate and is recorded as reported, not filed.
- Meta's exact EssilorLuxottica share count, cost basis and current percentage. The only figure located is an EssilorLuxottica board director saying on 9 Dec 2025 that the stake was at least 3 percent and possibly up to 5 percent. Neither company has disclosed a share count.
- The Scale AI ownership percentage in any primary document. Meta's 10-K names Scale AI and gives the carrying value but states no percentage, and the 49 percent non-voting figure was only reached through press summaries in this task, not a fetched primary page.
- About $1.1bn of measurement-alternative investments and about $6.5bn of equity-method and other VIE investments that Meta does not attribute to any named investee. Looked in Note 5 of the Q2 2026 10-Q and the FY2025 10-K.
- A current BlackRock position. EDGAR shows no Schedule 13G for Meta from BlackRock since the 12 Feb 2024 amendment referenced in the proxy, and the CIK that historically filed BlackRock's 13F (0001364742, BlackRock Finance, Inc.) stops at the quarter ended 30 Jun 2024. The current BlackRock 13F filer CIK was not identified.
- The aggregate Vanguard position after the January 2026 disaggregation. Only Vanguard Capital Management LLC had filed a Schedule 13G for Meta as at the 16 Apr 2026 proxy date, and Meta's proxy explicitly says no other Vanguard subsidiary or division had filed.
- The legal entity name of the Hyperion joint venture. Neither the 10-Q, the 10-K nor Meta's press release names it.
- Whether Meta took any minority stake in an AI compute or data centre counterparty in the first half of 2026 beyond Hyperion. Checked the cash flow statement, Note 5 and the VIE disclosures in the Q2 2026 10-Q. Nothing new is named, and the $1.670bn of first-half purchases is too small to hide a headline stake.
