The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 3,132 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
3,132 managers reported a position, together holding 1.07bn shares, or 65.4% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What the filings say against what the research found
Every holding above was also resolved directly from EDGAR through a precedence rule: the company's own filing outranks a 13D or 13G, which outranks a 13F, which outranks hand research. A 13F reports only US listed, long, US custodied positions, so it is a floor rather than a level. Where sources disagree the higher one leads and the lower is kept beside it.
No position here shows a material gap between sources.

What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- AMD's 13F-HR for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, filed 14 August 2026 and signed by CFO Jean Hu, contains exactly six positions with a total reported value of $1,311,750,821. All six are listed here. AMD has filed only three 13F reports in total (Q4 2025, Q1 2026, Q2 2026), so this is a young reporting history.
- SpaceX reconciliation: the brief's anchor table carries AMD at roughly 3,300,000 SpaceX shares worth $462m at the SPCX close of $140.00 on 14 August 2026. The 13F itself reports the precise figure of 3,309,470 Class A shares valued at $565,456,044, which is a 30 June 2026 valuation date and implies $170.86 per share. Both are correct for their own dates. At $140.00 the same 3,309,470 shares are worth $463,325,800. The share count, not the value, is the stable figure.
- The 13F gives no acquisition date and no cost basis for any position, including SpaceX, so cost basis is left null throughout rather than inferred. The 10-Q makes no mention of xAI, so the widely repeated claim that AMD's SpaceX stake arrived via xAI funding rounds is not supported by anything AMD has filed.
- OpenAI warrant, recorded accurately: this is a right to acquire AMD shares, not a holding of AMD shares, and it runs in the opposite direction to the holdings list. Per the Q2 2026 10-Q, AMD issued warrants in October 2025 to OpenAI OpCo, LLC and in February 2026 to Meta Platforms, Inc., each entitling the holder to purchase up to 160 million shares of AMD common stock at an exercise price of $0.01 per share. They vest in tranches against AMD Instinct GPU purchase milestones and stock price targets, with the OpenAI warrant also subject to stock performance thresholds, and each vested tranche needs further technical and commercial conditions met before it becomes exercisable. The OpenAI warrant runs through 5 October 2030, the Meta warrant through 23 February 2031. As of 27 June 2026 no warrant shares had vested or become exercisable and the warrants had no impact on the financial statements. 160 million shares would be 9.8% of the 1,632,475,042 shares outstanding at 29 July 2026 if fully vested and exercised, so both entries carry null shares here rather than a number that does not yet exist.
- Q2 2026 10-Q equity investments: long-term investments carried at fair value rose to $1,220m at 27 June 2026 from $400m at 27 December 2025, and consist primarily of equity investments in previously non-marketable securities that became publicly traded during the second quarter of fiscal 2026 and were reclassified to Level 1. Net unrealized gains from marketable equity securities were $425m at 27 June 2026, not material at 27 December 2025. $1.1 billion of the aggregate fair value is subject to time-based contractual sale restrictions expiring through October 2028, up from $178m a year earlier. That $1.1bn of restricted stock is consistent with the newly public SpaceX, Cerebras and Xanadu positions in the 13F.
- Vanguard restructuring: The Vanguard Group, Inc. filed Amendment No. 13 on 26 March 2026 reporting zero shares, following an internal realignment on 12 January 2026 that disaggregated its subsidiaries. The live reporting entity is now Vanguard Capital Management LLC, which reported 122,092,206 shares (7.48%) as of 31 March 2026 with sole voting power over only 16,151,940 of them. The 2026 proxy's Vanguard figure of 142,442,745 shares (8.8%) is superseded: it was reprinted from a Schedule 13G amendment filed 13 February 2024.
- The BlackRock figure is stale by the same mechanism. AMD's 2026 proxy discloses 124,945,206 shares (7.7%) but footnote 6 states this comes solely from Amendment No. 8 of Schedule 13G filed 1 February 2024, so the measurement date is 31 December 2023. The 7.7% is that 2023 share count divided by the 1,630,338,779 shares outstanding at 19 March 2026, which computes to 7.664%. No newer BlackRock filing for AMD is indexed under AMD's CIK.
- AMD has a single class of common stock with one vote per share, so there is no founder or dual-class control story here. Lisa Su's 4,305,973 shares (0.26%) include 413,529 shares issuable on options exercisable within 60 days of 19 March 2026. Register percentages use the proxy's denominator of 1,630,338,779 shares outstanding at 19 March 2026.
- Market cap of $839.73bn is the 14 August 2026 close of $514.39 against roughly 1.63bn shares. 16 August 2026 is a Sunday, so 14 August is the last traded price.
- AMD's Sanmina stake is the only holding whose origin AMD has disclosed: it came as part-consideration for selling the ZT Manufacturing Business, not as a venture investment.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Cost basis and acquisition dates for all six 13F positions. 13F information tables carry no cost field and AMD's Q2 2026 10-Q discloses only aggregate fair values, not per-position cost. Looked in the 13F information table and the 10-Q fair value and investments notes.
- Whether AMD's SpaceX position originated in xAI funding rounds. No AMD filing says so. Searched the Q2 2026 10-Q full text for 'xAI' with zero hits.
- Register holders 3 through 12. AMD's 2026 proxy identifies only two holders above 5% (Vanguard and BlackRock), and only two modern-format Schedule 13G filings are indexed under AMD's CIK in 2026. State Street, Geode, FMR and similar index holders are presumably in the 2% to 4% range but no filed document sourced during this task carries their AMD share counts, so they are omitted rather than estimated. Looked at the DEF 14A ownership table and the full EDGAR filing index for CIK 0000002488.
- A current BlackRock share count. The most recent BlackRock disclosure reachable through AMD's own filings dates to 31 December 2023.
- Any private-company equity stakes below 13F reporting thresholds. The 10-Q describes remaining non-marketable equity securities only in aggregate within a $1,220m long-term investments line and names no individual issuer beyond those already in the 13F.
- Whether the Nutanix denominator of 270,320,509 covers all classes. Nutanix's cover page reports a single Class A common stock line, and no second class was found, but this was not verified against the charter.
