The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 5,914 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
5,914 managers reported a position, together holding 6.89bn shares, or 63.9% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What the filings say against what the research found
Every holding above was also resolved directly from EDGAR through a precedence rule: the company's own filing outranks a 13D or 13G, which outranks a 13F, which outranks hand research. A 13F reports only US listed, long, US custodied positions, so it is a floor rather than a level. Where sources disagree the higher one leads and the lower is kept beside it.
No position here shows a material gap between sources.

What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Amazon has a single class of common stock, par value $0.01, with one vote per share. There is no founder super-voting class, so Bezos's roughly 9% economic stake is also roughly 9% of the votes. His 13G/A does record that 81,082,131 of the 964,340,319 shares are ones over which he holds sole voting authority under a voting agreement and proxy rather than sole investment power: sole dispositive power covers 883,258,188 shares.
- Amazon does file a 13F. The filing for the quarter ended 30 Jun 2026, filed 6 Aug 2026, is small and complete: six positions worth $4,423,057,466 in total. Everything material Amazon owns is private and sits in the 10-Q instead.
- Anthropic: separate the money from the mark. Cash actually deployed is $18.0bn ($8.0bn of convertible notes across Q3 2023 to Q4 2025, plus $5.0bn Series G and $5.0bn Series H in Q2 2026). The balance-sheet mark at 30 Jun 2026 is roughly $190.4bn ($92.5bn nonvoting preferred plus $97.9bn convertible notes at fair value). Separately committed but not deployed: a facility of up to $20.0bn, of which $15.0bn remained available after the Series H purchase, and which had no amount drawable at inception. Amazon discloses no share count and no ownership percentage for Anthropic, and its stake is subject to a contractual ownership cap.
- The Anthropic mark drove Amazon's reported earnings in the period: upward adjustments of approximately $50.5bn in Q2 2026 and $62.8bn for the six months, plus reclassification gains of $4.5bn on converted notes, inside total other income of $53.4bn for Q2 2026. The unrealized gain sitting in accumulated other comprehensive income on the notes was $92.0bn at 30 Jun 2026.
- OpenAI: $28.7bn deployed at 30 Jun 2026 out of a $50.0bn total ($15.0bn initial plus a $35.0bn equity commitment). The remaining $21.3bn was funded after the quarter end, so the current deployed figure is $50.0bn but the 30 Jun 2026 balance sheet carries $28.7bn. No upward remeasurement had been taken, so the OpenAI position is still marked at cost.
- Warrants: Amazon held equity warrants in other companies with a fair value of $4.3bn at 30 Jun 2026, up from $2.7bn at 31 Dec 2025, and recorded warrant valuation gains of $1.4bn in Q2 2026 and $1.1bn for the six months. The 10-Q does not name the issuers, so no individual warrant position could be sized and none is listed as a holding. Amazon's aggregate recorded value in equity, equity warrant and convertible debt investments in public and private companies was $229.7bn at 30 Jun 2026, of which public-company equity and warrants were $7.4bn.
- Amazon's marketable equity securities in the fair-value table are $3,498m at Level 1 plus $1,189m at Level 2 at 30 Jun 2026, a total of $4,687m. That exceeds the $4,423m 13F total because the 13F reports only 13(f)-eligible securities on the SEC's official list.
- Amazon exited its Air Transport Services Group stake. Its Schedule 13G/A Amendment No. 13, filed 14 Apr 2025 with an event date of 11 Apr 2025, reports zero shares, down from 13,287,023 shares reported as of 31 Dec 2024. That position originated as warrants tied to air cargo contracts and is now closed, so it is not carried as a holding.
- Disagreement on the Bezos stake, both filed: the 2025 proxy reports 1,021,742,026 shares and 9.6% as of 24 Feb 2025, of which 112,032,131 were shares with sole voting and no investment power. The later 13G/A reports 964,340,319 shares and 9.0% as of 30 Sep 2025. The register uses the later figure.
- Disagreement on Vanguard, both filed: the 2025 proxy reports The Vanguard Group, Inc. at 771,052,550 shares and 7.3% as of 31 Dec 2023. Vanguard restructured on 12 Jan 2026 and The Vanguard Group, Inc. now reports zero, with Vanguard Capital Management LLC reporting 727,679,638 shares and 6.77% as of 31 Mar 2026. The two Vanguard rows should be read together, not summed.
- The BlackRock figure is stale. The most recent BlackRock disclosure reachable in this task measures ownership at 31 Dec 2023 and is carried in Amazon's 2025 proxy. Treat 5.9% as a floor of unknown age, not a current reading.
- Market cap of $2.83tn is the figure shown for the 14 Aug 2026 close of $262.65 on 10.79bn shares. Cross-check on the exact share count from the 10-Q cover, 10,786,313,572 shares as of 22 Jul 2026, gives $2.833tn.
- Amazon's commercial commitments to these two investees dwarf the equity: an AWS arrangement with OpenAI expanded by $100.0bn over 8 years on top of an existing $38.0bn, and an Anthropic collaboration expanded by more than $100.0bn over 10 years. Those are revenue contracts, not holdings, and are excluded here.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Anthropic share count and ownership percentage. Amazon's Q2 2026 10-Q gives dollar carrying values only, states the position is subject to an undisclosed ownership cap, and gives no share, unit, or percentage figure. No Schedule 13G exists because Anthropic is private. Looked in the 10-Q non-marketable investments note and the 13F.
- OpenAI share count and ownership percentage. Same gap: the 10-Q gives dollars for Series C Preferred and nothing else. Looked in the 10-Q non-marketable investments note.
- The issuers behind Amazon's $4.3bn of equity warrants at 30 Jun 2026. The 10-Q discloses only the aggregate fair value and the Level 2 and Level 3 classification, with no issuer names. Looked in the 10-Q fair value note and the non-marketable investments note.
- State Street's Amazon stake. No Schedule 13G from State Street appears under Amazon's CIK in the EDGAR submissions index, and the 2025 proxy names only Bezos, Vanguard and BlackRock as holders above 5%. Looked in the EDGAR submissions index for CIK 0001018724 and the 2025 proxy ownership table.
- A current BlackRock figure. The newest BlackRock disclosure found measures 31 Dec 2023. Looked in the EDGAR submissions index for CIK 0001018724 and both proxy statements.
- Amazon's 2026 proxy beneficial ownership table. The document served at the 2026 DEF 14A URL under Amazon's CIK is not Amazon's proxy: its XBRL header is CIK 0001067983 and its ownership table lists Nvidia's officers and directors against 24,312,141,810 shares. It was discarded rather than used, and the 2025 proxy was used instead for the group and BlackRock rows.
- Shares outstanding for Astera Labs, Marvell and Allegiant, so those three positions carry share counts and values but no percentage of target.
- Whether Amazon holds any stake in Zoox, Kuiper affiliates, or other private companies beyond Anthropic and OpenAI. The 10-Q aggregates all remaining private equity investments into a single carrying value and names only Anthropic and OpenAI, with equity-method investments at just $395m in total.
