Viridor is a British recycling and residual waste company that collects, sorts and processes household and commercial waste and converts what cannot be recycled into electricity at energy recovery facilities. It serves more than 150 local authority and corporate customers across the United Kingdom, runs over 300 recycling, energy recovery and landfill diversion sites and a fleet of more than 600 collection vehicles, and handles around 7 million tonnes of recyclables and resources a year, of which about 1.4 million tonnes are traded. The business traces back to 1956, took the Viridor name in 1995 and was for years the waste arm of the water group Pennon, which sold it to funds advised by KKR in a 4.2 billion pound transaction completed on 8 July 2020. It is developing carbon capture at its Runcorn energy recovery plant.
Source
Viridor Limited files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Pennon Group: Proposed Sale of Viridor for £4.2 billion to KKR, Recycling Today: KKR to purchase Viridor from Pennon Group and Wikipedia: Viridor. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- KKR & Co. Inc.. Q2 2026 10-Q, Strategic Holdings segment note: for both the three and six months ended 30 Jun 2026, net realized investment income in the Strategic Holdings segment was 'comprised of a realized gain from the partial sale of Viridor Limited' (infrastructure sector), implying KKR retains a residual stake after the partial sale. No ownership percentage, remaining stake size, or fair value disclosed. FY2025 10-K also lists Viridor Limited (energy and energy transition sector) among FY2024 Strategic Holdings dividend sources. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Viridor Limited where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
