United Steel Supply is a steel distributor and processor based in Austin, Texas, founded in 2007, that sells painted and coated flat rolled steel coil, principally painted Galvalume, to the independent roll formers who turn it into metal roofing and siding panels. It buys coil from mills, holds and processes inventory close to its customers and delivers in small lots that individual roll formers cannot buy directly from a mill. The company runs distribution centres in Mississippi, Indiana, Arkansas and Oregon and added a steel processing facility at the Ports of Indiana site in Jeffersonville in 2024. Steel Dynamics bought a majority of the equity in March 2019 for 134 million dollars, made up of 93 million dollars in cash and 41 million dollars of assumed net debt, and holds an option over the remainder.
Source
United Steel Supply, LLC files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Steel Dynamics Completes Acquisition of 75% of United Steel Supply, LLC (PR Newswire, March 2019), Steel Dynamics to Acquire 75% of United Steel Supply, LLC to Expand Painted Galvalume Distribution Capabilities (PR Newswire, January 2019) and United Steel Supply to open steel processing facility at Ports of Indiana-Jeffersonville (Ports of Indiana). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Steel Dynamics, Inc.. FY2025 10-K, Note 2 Business Combinations: SDI had a 90% controlling interest in United Steel Supply, LLC (USS) as of 31 Dec 2024; on 1 Apr 2025 a noncontrolling member exercised its option to require SDI to purchase its 5% equity interest, increasing SDI's ownership to 95%. The remaining noncontrolling member has an option to require SDI to purchase, and SDI has an option to acquire, the outstanding 5% equity interest. Exhibit 21 confirms United Steel Supply, LLC (Texas) at 95%. The Q2 2026 10-Q confirms 'owned 95% by SDI' unchanged as of 30 Jun 2026, with redeemable noncontrolling interests related to USS of $32.0 million at 30 Jun 2026 (up from $30.0 million at 31 Dec 2025 and $60.0 million at 31 Dec 2024, the last figure reflecting the pre-April-2025 10% minority). That $32.0 million/$30.0 million figure is the carrying value of the remaining 5% NOT held by SDI, not the value of SDI's 95% interest, so value_usd for this holding is left null rather than estimated from it. USS is fully consolidated (majority-owned), not carried as a separate equity-method investment. sourcesource 2source 3
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of United Steel Supply, LLC where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
