SYNLAB is a European medical laboratory group that runs routine and specialty diagnostic testing for doctors, hospitals, public health authorities and corporate clients, alongside veterinary and environmental analysis. It offers more than 5,000 tests through a network of over 300 laboratories and more than 1,800 blood collection points in more than 20 countries across four continents, performing roughly 600 million tests a year with over 23,000 staff including more than 2,000 medical experts. The group is headquartered in Munich, Germany and reported revenue of about 2.5 billion euros in 2025. Its holding company SYNLAB AG floated on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange in 2021 and was delisted in July 2024 following a delisting offer from its private equity majority owner Cinven.
Source
SYNLAB files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from SYNLAB corporate website, Cinven completes sale of minority stake in SYNLAB to strategic investor Labcorp, Labcorp news release on the SYNLAB stake and SYNLAB AG delisted from Frankfurt Stock Exchange (press release PDF). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Labcorp Holdings Inc., as of 24 Mar 2025. Written as 15, not 0.15, per the brief's percentage rule. On 17 September 2024 Labcorp announced an agreement with Cinven, Inc. to acquire a 15% minority interest in SYNLAB for approximately $151.6 million (EUR 140.4 million); the transaction closed 24 March 2025 (Cinven's own press release gives the exact closing date) and is accounted for as an equity method investment. SYNLAB AG was a public company on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange (Prime Standard, SDAX) until Cinven's delisting tender offer closed 12 July 2024, so SYNLAB is now PRIVATE and the stake was bought directly from Cinven (the controlling private-equity owner), not on a public market. value_usd here is the stated ACQUISITION COST at closing, not a current fair value: Labcorp's balance sheet carries this stake inside a single combined line, 'Joint venture partnerships and equity method investments' ($153.9m at 31 Dec 2025, $139.3m at 30 Jun 2026), which is not split by investee in either the 10-K or the Q2 2026 10-Q. Both 10-K and 10-Q state that the increase in 'Equity method loss, net' in 2025 and H1 2026 was 'primarily due to the loss recognized from the SYNLAB investment,' confirming SYNLAB is the dominant, effectively sole material item in that combined balance (the balance was only $16.3m before the SYNLAB close), but no per-investee split is disclosed, so the CURRENT carrying value is not used here per the combined-balance rule; the filed acquisition-cost figure is used instead and flagged as a point-in-time cost, not a current mark. sourcesource 2source 3
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of SYNLAB where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
