PPG Kansai Automotive Finishes U.S., LLC is the North American arm of PPG Kansai Automotive Finishes, the automotive coatings alliance that PPG Industries and the Japanese paint maker Kansai Paint announced in November 2004. The Delaware company supplies factory applied coatings for vehicle bodies, aimed first at the North American assembly plants of Japanese owned carmakers, and it combines PPG's manufacturing base and North American customer relationships with Kansai's coatings technology and its links to Japanese vehicle makers. The two partners split the North American and European ventures 60 percent to PPG and 40 percent to Kansai, and share development of coating technology for use worldwide. It works from an automotive technical centre at 5875 New King Court in Troy, Michigan.

PPG Kansai Automotive Finishes U.S., LLC files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from PPG Industries and Kansai Paint launch alliance for automotive OEM coatings (chemeurope.com), Our Global Network (Kansai Paint) and PPG Industries, Inc. Form 10-K for 2025, Exhibit 21 subsidiaries (SEC EDGAR). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- PPG Industries, Inc.. Consolidated automotive-refinish joint-venture entity (Delaware) under PPG's alliance with Kansai Paints. Exhibit 21 lists it among 'Significant subsidiaries included in the 2025 consolidated financial statements' at 60 percent voting power, meaning PPG consolidates it as a controlled subsidiary despite holding less than 100 percent; written here as 60, not 0.6. Item 1 of the 10-K separately states PPG has established an alliance with 'Kansai Paints to serve Japanese-based automotive OEM customers in North America and Europe,' corroborating the counterparty without independently sizing the stake. No individual carrying value is disclosed: PPG's consolidated 'Noncontrolling interests' equity line ($147 million at 30 Jun 2026 per the Q2 2026 10-Q; $156 million at 31 Dec 2025 per the 10-K) covers the minority partners' combined share across all of PPG's non-wholly-owned consolidated entities (this one plus the sibling Kansai and Asian Paints entities below), not split by entity, so value_usd stays null per the combined-balance rule. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of PPG Kansai Automotive Finishes U.S., LLC where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
