PPG Asian Paints Private Limited is an Indian coatings maker set up in 1997 as an equally split venture between PPG Industries and Asian Paints Ltd, India's largest paint company, with PPG holding management control. It makes and sells coatings for vehicle manufacturers, vehicle refinish shops, general industrial customers, ships and consumer packaging, and it is the vehicle through which PPG's automotive and packaging coatings technology reaches Indian customers while Asian Paints contributes its domestic manufacturing, distribution and market knowledge. It works alongside a second, separately managed venture between the same two companies, Asian Paints PPG Private Ltd, formed in 2012 for protective and powder coatings. In August 2025 the partners renewed the arrangement for a further 15 years, running from 2026 to 2041.
Source
PPG Asian Paints Private Limited files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from PPG, Asian Paints renew India joint venture in 15-year agreement (PPG newsroom), PPG Asian Paints (company website) and PPG Industries, Inc. Form 10-K for 2025, Exhibit 21 subsidiaries (SEC EDGAR). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- PPG Industries, Inc.. Indian joint-venture entity, listed in Exhibit 21 at 50 percent voting power and included among 'Significant subsidiaries included in the 2025 consolidated financial statements,' i.e. PPG consolidates it as a controlled entity at an even 50/50 split rather than accounting for it under the equity method; written here as 50, not 0.5. Item 1 of the 10-K states PPG 'has an established alliance with Asian Paints Ltd. to serve certain automotive refinish customers in India' (and, per the Industrial Coatings segment text, 'certain automotive OEM and industrial coatings customers in India'), naming the counterparty without independently sizing the stake. No individual carrying value is disclosed: covered by the same combined 'Noncontrolling interests' balance described on the Kansai U.S. row above, so value_usd stays null. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of PPG Asian Paints Private Limited where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
