Platform Science, Inc. is a San Diego based fleet technology company that builds connected vehicle software for commercial trucking. Its Virtual Vehicle product turns the truck cab into an open computing platform: fleets run electronic logging, telematics, navigation, video safety and workflow applications on factory installed hardware, and a marketplace lets third party software providers deliver their own applications to the same devices without extra equipment. Truck makers and fleet operators including Daimler Truck, PACCAR, Cummins, Schneider, C.R. England and Ryder back the company as strategic investors alongside financial backers such as SoftBank, 8VC and Activant Capital. In February 2025 it absorbed the global transportation telematics business units of Trimble, a set of operations carrying roughly 300 million dollars of trailing annual revenue, which extended its installed base and its reach outside North America.
Source
Platform Science, Inc. files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Platform Science to Acquire Trimble's Global Transportation Telematics Business Units (Trimble newsroom), Platform Science (company website) and Trimble Inc. Form 10-Q for the quarter ended 3 April 2026 (SEC EDGAR). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Trimble Inc., as of 3 Jul 2026. Trimble's 3 Jul 2026 10-Q, Note 4 ('Divestitures'), states that on 8 Feb 2025 Trimble sold its global transportation telematics ('Mobility') business to Platform Science, Inc. for equity ownership interests with a fair value of $253.9 million, comprising (i) preferred stock representing 28.5 percent ownership, with certain liquidation preferences, and (ii) common stock warrants for a further 4 percent, totaling 32.5 percent of Platform Science's expanded business. Note 5 states this is held as 'Other investments' (the measurement alternative for privately-held companies without a readily determinable fair value, i.e. cost less impairment, adjusted only for observable price changes), NOT under the equity method, and that 'our 32.5% investment in Platform Science was $253.9 million at both the end of the second quarter of 2026 and end of 2025', i.e. unchanged since acquisition with no observable price adjustments recorded. Total 'Other investments' were $271.7 million at Q2 2026 ($270.4 million at FY2025 end), so roughly $17.8 million ($16.5 million at FY2025 end) of other, smaller privately-held stakes (ownership rights 1 percent to 32.5 percent per the note) sit outside Platform Science and are not individually named or sized. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Platform Science, Inc. where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
