Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company Limited, known as Otis China, is the joint venture through which Otis manufactures, installs and services elevators, escalators and related equipment in mainland China. It was established in 1998 with Tianjin Tai Kang Investment Co. Ltd. as the local partner alongside Otis, and it is by some distance the largest of the Otis group's joint ventures. Otis China in turn holds Otis Electric Elevator Company Limited, a 1997 venture built around the Hangzhou elevator maker Xizi Elevator Group, which does the same work of building, installing and maintaining lifts and escalators; in October 2025 the outside shareholding in Otis Electric was bought out for about $215 million, leaving Otis Electric wholly owned by Otis China and one of its subsidiaries. The business covers both new equipment sales and the service and modernisation of installed units in the world's largest elevator market.
Source
Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company Limited (Otis China) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Otis Worldwide Corporation Form 10-K for the year ended 31 December 2025, Otis Worldwide Corporation Form 10-K for the year ended 31 December 2020 and TEDA Investment: Otis Expresses Strong Confidence in Its Development in Tianjin. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Otis Worldwide Corporation. The FY2025 10-K (Item 1, Joint Ventures and Non-Wholly Owned Subsidiaries) states Otis is 'the majority owner of Otis China, and Tianjin Tai Kang Investment Co. Ltd. is our joint venture partner.' Otis China is Otis's largest joint venture, established in 1998, and its results are fully consolidated into Otis's financial statements because Otis holds operational control. No SEC filing checked (FY2025 10-K, Q2 2026 10-Q, and the FY2020 10-K filed shortly after the April 2020 spin-off) discloses the exact ownership percentage held by Otis versus Tianjin Tai Kang; the language 'majority owner' has been used identically since separation. Otis China is a privately held Chinese entity with no separate stock listing, so shares, value and a share-based pct_denominator cannot be sourced. This is treated as a holding, not excluded as a wholly owned subsidiary, because Tianjin Tai Kang is a genuine third-party minority partner whose interest Otis consolidates rather than owns outright, following the precedent set by Nucor's 51%-owned joint ventures and Moody's ICRA stake. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Otis Elevator (China) Investment Company Limited (Otis China) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
