Nucor-JFE Steel Mexico operates a continuous galvanizing line in Silao, Guanajuato, in central Mexico, producing hot dip galvanized sheet steel for the automotive industry in thicknesses of 0.4 mm to 2.6 mm and widths of 800 mm to 1,850 mm, with annual capacity of about 400,000 tons. It sells to carmakers with assembly operations in Mexico and the United States, and the plant was positioned to help those customers meet the North American content rules of the United States, Mexico and Canada Agreement. The venture pairs JFE Steel of Japan, which brings automotive sheet metallurgy, quality control and technical service, with Nucor, which brings operating practice and North American sales channels, and the two partners each supply half of the substrate coil that the line coats. Ground was broken in June 2017 on an investment of roughly 270 million dollars, and production began in early 2020.
Source
Nucor-JFE Steel Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from NUCOR-JFE STEEL MEXICO Begins Operating Hot-dip Galvanized Steel Sheet Production Facility for Automotive Applications (JFE Steel Corporation), Nucor-JFE Steel Mexico Hot-dip Galvanized Sheet Steel Facility Begins Production (PR Newswire) and JFE Steel's JV Holds Groundbreaking Ceremony for Auto Steel Sheet Plant in Mexico (JFE Steel Corporation). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Nucor Corporation. FY2025 10-K: Nucor owns a 51% controlling economic and voting interest in Nucor-JFE Steel Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. (NJSM), a joint venture with JFE Steel Corporation of Japan operating a galvanized sheet steel plant in central Mexico. NJSM is fully consolidated with the remaining 49% held by JFE Steel Corporation shown as noncontrolling interest, not carried as a separate equity-method investment, so no standalone fair value for Nucor's 51% interest is disclosed and value_usd is null. The Q2 2026 10-Q states property, plant and equipment of $217 million net of accumulated depreciation relates to the consolidated NJSM joint venture, which is the venture's asset base, not the value of Nucor's ownership interest, so it is not used here. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Nucor-JFE Steel Mexico, S. de R.L. de C.V. where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
