National Methanol Company, known as Ibn Sina, is a Saudi limited liability company that runs a petrochemical complex in Jubail Industrial City on Saudi Arabia's Gulf coast. Registered in 1981, it started methanol production in November 1984 and added methyl tertiary butyl ether (MTBE), a gasoline blending component, in July 1994, and its partners later agreed to build a polyoxymethylene (POM) engineering plastics plant on the same site, the first of its kind in the Middle East. The venture pairs Saudi Basic Industries Corporation, which also distributes and markets the output, with CTE Petrochemicals Company, a Cayman Islands partnership held by the American interests. In 2022 Ibn Sina became the first company in the Middle East certified by ISCC for circular methanol, made using carbon dioxide captured at the neighbouring UNITED plant.
Source
National Methanol Company (NMC) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from National Methanol Company (Ibn Sina) financial statements, filed as Exhibit 99.2 to a Form 10-K (SEC EDGAR), SABIC's Affiliate Becomes First Mideast Company to Get Certification for Circular Methanol Production (SABIC) and Saudi National Methanol Company awards Jubail POM project EPC contract (S&P Global Commodity Insights). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Duke Energy Corporation. 10-K states a 17.5% indirect economic ownership interest and separately a 25% board representation and voting rights interest; the 25% figure is governance, not ownership, so 17.5% is recorded as pct_of_target. Carrying value not disclosed: NMC sits in Duke Energy's 'Other' segment equity-method balance of $153 million at 31 December 2025, which the 10-K states also includes Bison, a wholly owned consolidated captive insurer that is not an equity-method investment, so the $153 million cannot be attributed to NMC alone. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of National Methanol Company (NMC) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
