Map Ta Phut Olefins Company Limited, known as MOC, runs a liquid fed steam cracker in the Map Ta Phut industrial estate in Rayong province, on Thailand's eastern seaboard. The plant began operating in April 2010 and produces roughly 1.2 million tonnes a year of ethylene and 850,000 tonnes a year of propylene, which feed downstream units on the same complex that make polyethylene, polypropylene and other derivatives. A debottlenecking project approved in 2018 at a cost of about 15.5 billion baht added a parallel gas cracker using licensed side cracking technology together with extra refrigeration capacity. It reached full rates in May 2021, lifting olefins output by 350,000 tonnes a year to about 2.05 million tonnes and widening the range of feedstocks the cracker can run. The company is a joint venture between SCG Chemicals, the petrochemicals arm of Thailand's Siam Cement Group, and Dow.
