Lumos is a fibre to the home internet provider in the eastern and midwestern United States, built around a core footprint in Virginia, North Carolina and South Carolina. It builds and runs an all fibre network of roughly 7,500 miles that reaches more than 475,000 homes, businesses and multi family buildings across eight states, and sells gigabit broadband, whole home Wi-Fi, voice and streaming services over it. The business descends from the rural telephone and fibre operations spun out of nTelos as Lumos Networks in 2011, was taken private by the infrastructure arm of the investment firm EQT in 2017, and absorbed North State Communications of High Point, North Carolina in 2022. Since April 2025 it has sat inside a fibre joint venture that is funding an expansion meant to pass 3.5 million homes by the end of 2028.
Source
Lumos files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from T-Mobile and EQT close joint venture to acquire Lumos and expand fiber internet access (T-Mobile Newsroom), Lumos Networks (Wikipedia) and With Lumos, T-Mobile to reach 3.5M homes with fiber by 2028 (Light Reading). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- T-Mobile US, Inc., as of 30 Jun 2025. T-Mobile invested $932 million cash during the quarter ended June 30, 2025 to acquire a 50% equity interest in the Lumos fiber-to-the-home joint venture with a fund operated by EQT (EQT Infrastructure VI, which acquired Lumos from EQT Infrastructure III); closed April 1, 2025. T-Mobile does not control the JV and accounts for it under the equity method (proportionate share of earnings/losses in Other expense, net); it is explicitly NOT consolidated, so it is a genuine minority equity stake, not a controlled subsidiary. No separate current carrying value or fair value for Lumos alone is disclosed in the FY2025 10-K or Q2 2026 10-Q; the $932 million is the acquisition-date cash investment, not a current mark. T-Mobile owns the retail customer relationships and sells fiber service under the T-Mobile brand; the JV is the wholesale network operator. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Lumos where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
