Louisiana-Pacific Corporation, which trades as LP Building Solutions, makes engineered wood building materials for house construction and repair. Its Siding business produces the LP SmartSide range of treated wood strand trim, lap and panel siding, and its OSB business produces oriented strand board used as roof decking, wall sheathing and floor underlayment, a panel type the company was the first in North America to manufacture commercially when it opened a mill in 1979. It also runs a South American arm with mills in Chile and Brazil. The company was incorporated on 5 January 1973 in a court ordered break up of Georgia-Pacific, started life in Portland, Oregon, and moved its head office to Nashville, Tennessee in 2004. Its shares are listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker LPX.
