Komatsu alliances is the collective label Cummins uses in its accounts for a group of joint ventures with the Japanese construction and mining equipment maker Komatsu Ltd. and its affiliates. The relationship began with a diesel engine technology agreement in 1961 and was formalised into shared companies in 1993, when Komatsu Cummins Engine Co., Ltd. was set up in Japan and Cummins Komatsu Engine Company in the United States to build engines for each partner's machines, followed in 1998 by Industrial Power Alliance Ltd. in Japan for engine development. The largest piece on the distribution side is Komatsu Cummins Chile, Ltda., formed in 1999 as a holding company for construction and mining equipment sales distributors in Chile and based at Avenida Americo Vespucio in Quilicura, Santiago. It sells and services the full Cummins product range together with Komatsu machinery for mining, construction, forestry, energy and transport customers in Chile and Peru.
Source
Komatsu alliances (Komatsu Cummins Chile, Ltda. and other Komatsu-affiliated distributor joint ventures) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Cummins Inc. Form 10-K for the year ended 31 December 2025, Komatsu corporate history (Komatsu global site) and Komatsu Cummins Chile facility (Komatsu global site). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Cummins Inc., as of 31 Dec 2025. This is the filing's own reporting line, not a figure this research combined: NOTE 3 lists 'Komatsu alliances' as one row with a 20-50 percent ownership range and a single carrying value of $321 million at 2025-12-31 ($322 million at 2024-12-31), covering multiple Komatsu-affiliated distributor entities together. Komatsu Cummins Chile, Ltda. is separately named (with its own income figures, not ownership percentage or carrying value) in the equity-income note. pct_of_target is left null because no single-entity percentage is stated. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Komatsu alliances (Komatsu Cummins Chile, Ltda. and other Komatsu-affiliated distributor joint ventures) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
