Flash Forward is the newest of the three Japanese manufacturing ventures, collectively called Flash Ventures, through which Sandisk and Kioxia (formerly Toshiba's memory business) develop and build NAND flash memory. It was set up under a master agreement dated 13 July 2010 and an operating agreement dated 1 March 2011, in connection with the construction of the Y5 plant at the Yokkaichi site in Mie prefecture, a 300 millimetre wafer fab built in two roughly equal phases and opened in 2011 to make memory for smartphones and solid state drives. The venture owns or leases the production equipment while Kioxia owns the buildings and performs the wafer fabrication, and the partners co-develop the process technology, share the fixed costs and take output at cost plus a small markup. Flash Forward is also a party to the facility agreements covering the later Y6 plant at Yokkaichi and the K1 and K2 plants at Kitakami in Iwate prefecture, which makes it the vehicle carrying most of the group's recent capacity investment.
Source
Flash Forward Ltd. files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Sandisk Corp Form 10-K for FY2026 (SEC), Toshiba Starts Construction of Fab 5 for NAND Flash Memory at Yokkaichi (Kioxia) and Toshiba and SanDisk Celebrate the Opening of Fab 5 300mm NAND Flash Memory Fabrication Facility in Japan (Business Wire). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Sandisk Corporation, as of 3 Jul 2026. Third of the three Flash Ventures entities, and the newest fab (K1/K2/Y7 facilities). The FY2026 10-K balance sheet note discloses 'Investment in Flash Forward' as a dash (effectively $0) as of 3 Jul 2026, down from $125 million as of 27 Jun 2025: the equity-method carrying value has been reduced to zero by cumulative losses/distributions, while the associated notes-receivable balance to Flash Forward grew to $543 million (from $316 million a year earlier), i.e. Sandisk is now funding this venture's newest capacity buildout via loans rather than equity. value_usd of 0 here is a filed, sourced zero, not a null gap. source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Flash Forward Ltd. where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
