EQUATE Petrochemical Company is a Kuwaiti petrochemical producer that operates an integrated complex on the Gulf coast south of Kuwait City, making ethylene, ethylene glycol, polyethylene, polyethylene terephthalate, styrene monomer, paraxylene, benzene and heavy aromatics, with output exceeding six million tonnes a year sold across the Middle East, Asia, Africa and Europe. It is the world's second largest producer of ethylene glycol, a position extended by its 2015 purchase of MEGlobal, which runs glycol plants in Kuwait, Canada, Germany and the United States, including an Oyster Creek, Texas unit opened in 2019. Set up in 1995 as Kuwait's first international petrochemical joint venture, it brings together the state owned Petrochemical Industries Company, which supplies feedstock, and Dow, which contributed process technology and operating expertise, alongside the Kuwaiti investors Boubyan Petrochemical Company and Qurain Petrochemical Industries. Production began in 1997.
Source
EQUATE Petrochemical Company K.S.C.C. files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from About EQUATE, EQUATE Petrochemical Company, EQUATE at a glance and Qurain Petrochemical Industries, petrochemicals page. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Dow Inc.. Kuwaiti equity-method joint venture manufacturing ethylene, polyethylene and ethylene glycol, and manufacturing and marketing monoethylene glycol, diethylene glycol and polyethylene terephthalate resins. Percentage taken directly from the 10-K table, which states 42.50 percent; written here as 42.5, not 0.425. No individual carrying value is disclosed: Dow's Q2 2026 10-Q (Note 12) reports a single combined 'Investment in nonconsolidated affiliates' balance of $1,121 million at 30 Jun 2026 (Investment in principal nonconsolidated affiliates of $747 million plus other, smaller nonconsolidated affiliates), covering EQUATE together with Kuwait Olefins, Kuwait Styrene, Map Ta Phut, Sadara and the four SCGC-Dow entities, so no split by investee is possible and value_usd stays null here. The 10-Q separately discloses a NEGATIVE investment balance in EQUATE specifically of $58 million (within 'Other noncurrent obligations') at 30 Jun 2026, i.e. EQUATE's cumulative losses/distributions have pushed Dow's net investment in this one entity below zero; that figure is a liability, not a positive carrying value, so it is not used as value_usd. sourcesource 2
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of EQUATE Petrochemical Company K.S.C.C. where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
