China UnionPay Data Services Co., Ltd., known as CUP Data, is a Shanghai based payment processor that runs card issuing systems for banks in China on an outsourced basis. Established in 2003 as an arm of China UnionPay, the only bankcard network sanctioned by the People's Bank of China, it handles credit, debit and prepaid card processing, account hosting, disaster recovery, card embossing and statement printing, and sells software, data analytics and technical consultancy to issuers. It is the largest third party bankcard processor in the country and has taken the great majority of the Chinese banks that outsource credit card processing, among them China Minsheng Bank, Industrial Bank and China Postal Savings Bank, and it also processes for foreign banks operating onshore. China UnionPay contributes the network, the licence and the client relationships, while the American processor TSYS, now part of Global Payments, came in as a strategic investor in December 2005 bringing issuer processing platforms and technology.
Source
China UnionPay Data Services Co., Ltd. files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from TSYS success in China continues (Business Wire China), TSYS and China UnionPay venture in pact (American Banker) and UnionPay (Wikipedia). The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Global Payments Inc.. FY2025 10-K MD&A: 'We have equity method investments, including a 45% interest in China UnionPay Data Services Co., Ltd., which we account for using the equity method of accounting.' Not consolidated (unlike the Spain/Poland/Germany/Greece/Chile ventures above). The carrying value of this stake is not broken out; it sits inside a single combined equity-method balance (see notes/unknowns). source
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of China UnionPay Data Services Co., Ltd. where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
