Who owns Caterpillar-Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT)
One company in the researched set discloses a stake in Caterpillar-Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT), none of it sized by anyone who discloses it. Caterpillar-Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) is private, so no 13F reports it: a 13F covers exchange listed positions only. These figures exist because each holder disclosed the stake in its own filings.

Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies LLC is a Delaware registered engineering joint venture based in Dayton, Ohio, that develops electronic guidance and control systems for earthmoving machines used in construction, mining and waste handling. Its products combine a site design model with precise positioning so that a machine automatically controls its own tools, for example holding a dozer blade to a designed grade. The venture was announced in March 2002 and began operating that April, with Caterpillar contributing cash and selected technology, Trimble contributing existing machine control product technology plus GPS, laser, wireless, computing and software capability, and both parents licensing patents into it. It builds products for its two owners rather than selling directly: Caterpillar offers them as factory fitted options on its machines while Trimble sells them into the aftermarket through its dealer network.
Source
Caterpillar-Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) files nothing with the SEC, so none of this comes from a filer record. The description was written for this site in August 2026 from Trimble Navigation Ltd Form 8-K, 18 March 2002, announcing the joint venture, Caterpillar Inc. Exhibit 21, Subsidiaries and Affiliates (filed 24 February 2005) and Trimble Inc. Form 10-K for the fiscal year ended 2 January 2026. The ownership figures below come from the holders' filings instead, and are sourced row by row.
The disclosed stakes
One row per position. Where a holder reports the same company in two share classes, both rows are shown rather than summed, because the class is part of a position's identity.
Where each figure comes from
A private stake has no ownership form behind it, so the source is always the holder's own filing or disclosure. Anything modelled says so, with the arithmetic.
- Trimble Inc.. Trimble's FY2025 10-K (filed 25 Feb 2026), Item 1, describes CTCT in the present tense: 'Our joint venture with Caterpillar, Caterpillar-Trimble Control Technologies, was formed to develop the next generation of advanced electronic guidance and control products for earth-moving machines,' confirming the venture is still held as of the current fiscal year; it is also named in the Item 1A risk factors alongside AGCO, Hilti and Nikon as an ongoing relationship. However, no filing from FY2020 onward discloses an ownership percentage or an individual carrying value for CTCT: the 10-Q and 10-K 'Equity Investments' note (Note 5) only gives a combined equity-method balance ($345.7 million at Q2 2026, of which $212.1 million is separately attributed to PTx Trimble; see that row), and Exhibit 21.1 of the FY2025 10-K is a plain subsidiaries list with no joint ventures and no ownership-percentage column. The last filing found that states a percentage is the FY2010 10-K (fetched in this task), whose Note 5 'Joint Ventures' reads: 'Caterpillar Trimble Control Technologies LLC (CTCT), a joint venture formed by the Company and Caterpillar, began operations [1 Apr 2002] ... The joint venture is 50% owned by the Company and 50% owned by Caterpillar, with equal voting rights.' A search of the FY2013 and FY2017 10-Ks found the joint-venture note had by then been folded into the combined 'Equity Investments' disclosure with no percentage restated. Because value_usd cannot be isolated from the combined equity-method balance, it is null here rather than assigned; because the FY2025 10-K's present-tense description is the freshest evidence the venture still exists but carries no percentage of its own, pct_of_target uses the last filed figure (50) with this staleness flagged explicitly. Caterpillar's own equity-graph file (data/research/caterpillar.json) does not mention Trimble or CTCT at all, so no reciprocal cross-check is available; CTCT is likely immaterial to Caterpillar's much larger balance sheet. sourcesource 2source 3
What this page is not
It is not a complete register. It lists the holders who happen to be inside the researched set and disclosed the stake themselves. A private company can have many other shareholders, and nothing here rules them out: venture investors, founders and employees usually appear in no public filing at all. Percentages are of Caterpillar-Trimble Control Technologies (CTCT) where a holder stated one, and are missing where no holder did.
