Address, industry classification, listing and incorporation come from WEC Energy Group, Inc.'s own SEC filer record, so the industry is the SEC's dry classification rather than a marketing label. The website comes from Wikidata. The headcount is the figure the Wikipedia article states for 2024, not a figure this site has verified against a filing. The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,354 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,354 managers reported a position, together holding 278.2m shares, or 85.4% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 325.7m shares outstanding at 31 Mar 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- CUSIP handling: this project's Q1 2026 13F register for WEC (data/registers/WEC.json) carries three CUSIPs sharing the six-character issuer prefix 92939U: 92939U106, 92939UAR7 and 92939UAP1. In practice, individual Q2 2026 13F-HR filings checked here also surfaced a fourth related CUSIP, 92939UAT3, likewise sharing the 92939U prefix. Only 92939U106 is WEC common stock; the other three are debt instruments, each labeled '[NOTE ...]' or '[BOND]' in the filings' issuer descriptions (e.g. 'NOTE 4.375% 6/0', 'NOTE 3.375% 6/0'). Every register row in this file is built from scripts/filing.py's 13f parser, which groups strictly by CUSIP and automatically excludes non-92939U106 lines from the share/value subtotal, labeling them 'DERIVATIVE, EXCLUDED FROM EVERY TOTAL BELOW'. Note-CUSIP lines were observed on the BlackRock, State Street, FMR, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, JPMorgan, Wellington, and Morgan Stanley information tables; none of their reported share/value totals above include any note-CUSIP amount. No filer's reported 92939U106 shares were reduced or altered; only the separate note CUSIPs were dropped.
- Consolidated regulated operating subsidiaries excluded from holdings per the brief: Wisconsin Electric Power Company (WE), Wisconsin Public Service Corporation (WPS), Wisconsin Gas LLC (WG), Michigan Gas Utilities Corporation, Minnesota Energy Resources Corporation (MERC), Upper Michigan Energy Resources Corporation (UMERC), The Peoples Gas Light and Coke Company (PGL), and North Shore Gas Company (NSG) are all wholly owned, consolidated utility subsidiaries.
- Non-utility energy infrastructure segment items are also consolidated, not equity-method holdings, and are excluded: Bluewater Natural Gas Holding, LLC (100% owned underground gas storage), We Power (owns/leases generation to WE), and WECI's wind and solar projects (Blooming Grove, Tatanka Ridge, Jayhawk, Thunderhead, Samson I, Sapphire Sky Wind Energy LLC, Delilah I, Hardin III, Maple Flats Solar Energy Center LLC). The 10-Q explicitly frames these as facilities WEC owns and consolidates, with 'noncontrolling interests held by third parties' recorded for the minority tax-equity partners' share; that is the reverse direction from a WEC holding, so none of these appear in the holdings list.
- The two genuine minority-governance equity-method investments found are American Transmission Company LLC (ATC, approximately 60% ownership interest but not consolidated because WEC lacks the power to direct ATC's most economically significant activities as a non-primary-beneficiary VIE holder) and ATC Holdco LLC (approximately 75% ownership interest, same VIE/equity-method rationale). Both are recorded as holdings above with their individually stated equity investment balances from Q2 2026 10-Q Note 19; the note's reconciliation table gives ATC and ATC Holdco balances separately (not only combined), so neither figure is a combined balance being misassigned to one investee.
- No other equity-method or joint-venture investee was found. Searches of the Q2 2026 10-Q for 'joint venture' returned only a single generic risk-factor mention (no named JV); 'unconsolidated' returned zero hits; Bluewater, West Riverside (not found, evidently not a WEC entity name), Thunderhead, Sapphire Sky, and Maple Flats were all confirmed to be consolidated WECI acquisitions, not separate holdings.
- Register, Vanguard case: Vanguard Group Inc (CIK 0000102909) filed Form 13F-NT for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 (no holdings). Per the brief's Vanguard rule, the register sums the two successor entities that filed 13F-HR: Vanguard Capital Management LLC (21,255,153 shares) and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC (16,877,935 shares), total 38,133,088 shares, into a single 'The Vanguard Group' row.
- Register, Capital Group: NOT the Vanguard successor case; no Capital Group parent files a 13F-NT. All three named Capital Group 13F filers were checked individually against their own Q2 2026 13F-HR information tables: Capital World Investors (CIK 0001422849), Capital International Investors (CIK 0001562230), and Capital Research Global Investors (CIK 0001422848). None of the three has a row for CUSIP 92939U106 (or any 92939U-prefixed CUSIP). Capital Group holds no WEC position this quarter and is not included in the register.
- Register, T. Rowe Price: also not the Vanguard successor case (neither entity files a 13F-NT). T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. (CIK 0000080255) and T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc. (CIK 0001897612) were both checked individually and summed into one 'T. Rowe Price' roll-up row (867,593 shares total). Both filings report their value column in thousands of dollars rather than whole dollars, the same 'thousands trap' pattern the brief flags; both were rescaled by 1000x and cross-checked against the roughly $116.77/share cluster implied by every other Q2 2026 filer checked here.
- Norges Bank and Dodge & Cox were both checked (per the verified manager list) and neither has a row for CUSIP 92939U106 or any 92939U-prefixed CUSIP in its Q2 2026 13F-HR information table; neither currently holds WEC common stock and neither is included in the register.
- Register reconciliation: the 2026 proxy's 'Owners of More than 5%' table cites older Schedule 13G filings (unspecified filing date, described only as 'the most recent Schedule 13G filed', not adjusted for later activity): The Vanguard Group 41,668,081 shares / 13.21%, BlackRock, Inc. 28,785,394 shares / 9.10%, and State Street Corporation 21,405,382 shares / 6.80%. EDGAR's SC 13G/A filing history for WEC (CIK 0000783325) shows the most recent Schedule 13G/A was filed 16 October 2024, with no 2026 13D or 13G filing found; these proxy-cited figures are therefore stale relative to the Q2 2026 13F-HR data used above, so the more current 13F-HR figures are used and no separate 13G rows are added.
- Self-gate check (computed per the chart's algorithm, from this file): summing the 15 non-aggregate institutional register rows (Vanguard 38,133,088 + BlackRock 33,321,277 + State Street 21,094,044 + Geode 9,240,374 + Bank of America 8,605,748 + Wells Fargo 8,572,855 + Schwab IM 5,385,908 + JPMorgan 5,161,378 + Franklin 4,670,940 + Morgan Stanley 4,291,770 + Wellington 3,572,456 + Northern Trust 3,490,269 + FMR 1,219,960 + T. Rowe Price 867,593 + MFS 562,657 = 148,190,317 shares), plus the insider rows counted per the chart algorithm (Scott J. Lauber 327,864 shares in full, plus the aggregate group row reduced by the amount rolling up into it: 1,511,208 - 327,864 = 1,183,344), gives a grand total of 149,701,525 shares against 325,849,383 shares outstanding, or 45.94%. This is within the brief's 15 to 55 percent tolerance band, somewhat above the 25 to 45 percent expected range but consistent with this project's Consolidated Edison analogue (40.23%) plus WEC having two extra checked-and-included smaller managers (FMR, MFS) beyond the top 12. Row count: 17.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Whether any Vanguard-affiliated 13F filer beyond the two named successor entities (Vanguard Capital Management LLC and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC) holds WEC; this project's Q1 2026 WEC register data lists 8 Vanguard-related CIKs in total (including 0000933478, 0001550100, 0001680208, 0001767306, 0001811242, 0001984256), and the remaining 6 were not individually checked within the time budget, so the true Vanguard family total for Q2 2026 may be somewhat higher than 38,133,088 shares.
- The individual identities behind the very large Q1 2026 13F register lines for Mizuho Securities USA LLC (34,693,676 'shares'), TPG GP A, LLC (34,000,000), Ovata Capital Management Ltd (27,409,000), and SSI Investment Management LLC (17,811,000): these are far larger than any confirmed Q2 2026 common-stock holder found here and are suspected, but not confirmed, to be reporting on the 92939UAR7 or 92939UAP1 note CUSIPs rather than common stock; none of these four was independently verified against its own Q2 2026 13F-HR within the time budget, and none is included in this register.
- Any fresh Schedule 13D or 13G filed on WEC in 2026 outside the EDGAR SC 13G/A browse listing checked (most recent found: 16 October 2024); a full-text search of EDGAR for 2026-dated Schedule 13D/13G filings specifically naming WEC Energy Group was not separately run.
- The individual FY2025 10-K equity-method note for ATC and ATC Holdco was not separately pulled; the Q2 2026 10-Q's own Note 19 reconciliation table (which includes the December 31, 2025 comparative balances) was treated as sufficient and used instead.
