Address, industry classification, listing and incorporation come from Vistra Corp.'s own SEC filer record, so the industry is the SEC's dry classification rather than a marketing label. The website comes from Wikidata. The headcount is the figure the Wikipedia article states for 2024, not a figure this site has verified against a filing. No position on this side carries a sourced value, so there is nothing to chart. The table still lists 1 of them.
Select a row or a slice for its provenance: the filing it came from, when it was measured, and the arithmetic behind it if it was modelled.
The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,295 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,295 managers reported a position, together holding 277.0m shares, or 82.2% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 337.2m shares outstanding at 1 May 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Holdings side. The FY2025 10-K and Q2 2026 10-Q were both searched for 'equity method', 'unconsolidated', 'joint venture', 'noncontrolling interest', 'investment in', 'non-marketable equity', and named entities (Vistra Vision, Comanche Peak, Oncor). 'Unconsolidated' and 'joint venture' return zero hits as named entities in either filing (joint venture appears only in generic risk-factor boilerplate about possible future M&A). The one currently disclosed equity-method position is a June 2026 founding LP commitment of up to $1.0 billion to KKR Helix C L.P. (the Helix Fund), a KKR-managed fund investing in AI-enabling infrastructure (data centers, generation, transmission, fiber); as of 30 Jun 2026 the initial $500 million tranche had not yet been called by the fund's general partner, so $0 was funded/carrying as of the 10-Q date and no fund-level ownership percentage is disclosed anywhere found. This is included in holdings with value_usd 0 and shares/pct null rather than estimated.
- Vistra Vision, the segment holding Comanche Peak nuclear and the Vistra Zero renewables/storage business, was previously 85% owned, with Nuveen Asset Management and Avenue Capital Management II holding a combined 15% noncontrolling interest (created in the March 2024 Energy Harbor merger). Per Vistra Vision Holdings' Unit Purchase Agreements with Nuveen and Avenue, that transaction closed 31 Dec 2024 and the 10-K states in plain language that 'Vistra Vision Holdings now owns 100% of the equity interests in Vistra Vision.' Some deferred cash installments to Nuveen continue through 31 Dec 2026, but the equity is fully consolidated at 100% as of both the FY2025 10-K and Q2 2026 10-Q, so Vistra Vision is correctly excluded from holdings as a wholly owned operating subsidiary, not a partially owned one.
- The balance sheet still carries a small 'Noncontrolling interest in subsidiary' of $12 million (30 Jun 2026) / $13 million (31 Dec 2025), out of $5.494 billion / $5.110 billion total equity, roughly 0.2%. Neither the 10-Q nor the FY2025 10-K names which subsidiary this relates to (it is immaterial and not itemized), so it is not converted into a holdings row; see unknowns.
- Register share basis and denominator. company.shares_outstanding is 335,635,195 common shares as of 3 Aug 2026, the Q2 2026 10-Q cover page (filed 10 Aug 2026), which also matches the 335,961,328 shares outstanding at 30 Jun 2026 shown on the balance sheet (steadily declining from 338,059,635 at 31 Dec 2025 via ongoing buybacks: $710m repurchased in H1 2026 plus $68m from 1 Jul to 3 Aug 2026). No stock split occurred in this period; the declining count is entirely buybacks, confirmed by the repurchase-activity table in the 10-Q (4,965,920 shares repurchased for $778m, 1 Jan to 3 Aug 2026). Every register row's pct_of_company uses the single 335,635,195 denominator, including the two proxy-sourced rows (recomputed rather than copying the proxy's own 338,549,292-share denominator, per the one-basis rule).
- Vanguard, BlackRock and FMR each show meaningfully lower share counts in the Q2 2026 13F than in the stale Schedule 13G/A figures the 2026 proxy quotes (Vanguard 13G/A as of 29 Dec 2023: 42,522,598 shares/12.6% vs 38,333,149/11.4% here; BlackRock 13G/A as of 30 Sep 2024: 28,343,531/8.4% vs 29,064,465/8.7% here, a small increase; FMR 13G/A as of 31 Mar 2025: 17,269,704/5.1% vs 14,160,202/4.2% here). The Q2 2026 13F-HR figures are used as the primary sourced numbers throughout as the more current filings; the proxy figures are recorded here as the disagreement rather than discarded.
- Qatar Investment Authority | Seismic Holding LLC is a legacy strategic (sovereign wealth fund) holder from Vistra's 2016 emergence from Energy Future Holdings bankruptcy, at 18,675,188 shares (5.5%) as of 30 Jun 2025, the most recent Schedule 13G on file (5 Aug 2025) and the most recent EDGAR filing found under either the QIA CIK or a full text search for 'Seismic Holding'. It is a passive Rule 13d-1(c) filing (sole voting and dispositive power, no control intent stated) and is not captured by any 13F because a 13G/13D beneficial owner is not a 13F institutional investment manager.
- Self-gate: 13 register rows (11 institutional/sovereign rows plus 2 insider rows), summing per the chart's own arithmetic to 146,735,874 shares (James A. Burke counted at his full 1,513,011 shares, the 15-person officers/directors group counted at its residual of 3,103,579 minus Burke's 1,513,011 = 1,590,568 to avoid double counting), against 335,635,195 shares outstanding, or 43.72%, within the expected 25 to 45 percent range.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- KKR Helix Fund's total committed capital across all limited partners, and therefore Vistra's resulting percentage ownership interest in the fund; not disclosed in the Q2 2026 10-Q, the only filing found describing this investment (it was entered into in June 2026, after the FY2025 10-K).
- The identity of the subsidiary behind the $12-13 million 'Noncontrolling interest in subsidiary' balance sheet line at 30 Jun 2026 / 31 Dec 2025; not named in either the 10-Q or the 10-K searched.
- Whether Nuveen's deferred installment payments (continuing through 31 Dec 2026 per the UPAs) leave any residual minority economic interest short of full legal closing; the 10-K states Vistra Vision Holdings 'now owns 100% of the equity interests,' which is treated here as controlling.
- Vanguard-affiliated 13F filers other than Vanguard Capital Management LLC and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC were not individually checked for VST holdings within the time budget; if other Vanguard entities hold VST shares, the true Vanguard family total is somewhat higher than the 38,333,149 shares used here.
- Dollar values for the QIA/Seismic Holding LLC row and the two insider rows (Burke and the officer/director group) are null: Schedule 13G and the proxy's beneficial ownership table give share counts and percentages but no dollar value, and no share price as of the relevant measurement dates (30 Jun 2025 for QIA, 3 Mar 2026 for the proxy rows) was independently sourced, so a value was not estimated rather than guessed.
- Institutional holders below the twelve listed here (for example Wellington, Dodge & Cox, Norges-scale peers) were not individually checked; the twelve listed satisfy the brief's top 8 to 12 requirement including the mandated Capital Group and T. Rowe Price family checks.
