Description
Textron Inc. is an American industrial conglomerate based in Providence, Rhode Island. It was founded by Royal Little in 1923 as the Special Yarns Company. In 2026, Textron employed over 45,000 people in 25 countries. The company ranked 265th on the 2021 Fortune 500 of the largest United States corporations by revenue.

The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 774 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
774 managers reported a position, together holding 155.2m shares, or 89.2% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 173.9m shares outstanding at 17 Apr 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Holdings side is legitimately empty. Searched the latest 10-Q (period 4 Jul 2026, filed 28 Jul 2026) and latest 10-K (fiscal year ended 3 Jan 2026, filed 11 Feb 2026, including Exhibit 21 subsidiaries list) for 'equity method', 'joint venture', 'unconsolidated', 'non-marketable', 'equity investment', 'Investment in', 'noncontrolling interest', 'minority interest', 'affiliate', 'nonconsolidated', 'cost method', 'available-for-sale securities', 'marketable securities', 'Boeing', 'V-22', 'Pipistrel' and 'eAviation'. 'Joint venture' appears only in generic risk-factor boilerplate about relying on unnamed international joint venture partners as one category of business partner, never a named or sized JV. 'Affiliate' appears once, in the cover-page non-affiliate market-value disclosure, not an investment. 'Investment in' matches are all about R&D/capex investment or discount-rate methodology, not an equity stake in another company. The V-22 program (historically associated with the Bell Boeing joint venture structure) is explicitly NOT accounted for as an equity-method investment: the 10-Q states Textron 'include[s] all assets used in performance of the V-22 Contracts that we own and all liabilities arising from our obligations under the V-22 Contracts in our Consolidated' financial statements, i.e. Bell consolidates its own proportional share of program assets and liabilities directly rather than holding an equity interest in a separate joint-venture entity to size. No balance-sheet line item for 'investments in affiliates', 'equity method investments' or similar exists on either the Manufacturing group or Finance group balance sheets (only Cash, Finance receivables, PP&E, Goodwill and Other assets). The Finance group is Textron Financial Corporation, a wholly owned consolidated subsidiary (confirmed via Exhibit 21), not an equity-method interest. Exhibit 21 states 'Unless indicated otherwise, all entities listed are wholly owned' and no entity in the multi-page list carries an ownership-percentage annotation or any indication of partial ownership; it is a bare wholly-owned name list, the same negative pattern the brief describes for Darden and Labcorp. Textron eAviation (including Pipistrel) is a wholly owned reporting segment, not an external stake; effective 4 Jan 2026 it was folded into Textron's other operating segments (Aviation and Systems) as an organizational realignment, unrelated to ownership structure. Conclusion: Textron holds no material equity-method, joint-venture, or minority equity stake in any other listed or private company as of the latest filings.
- Capital Group checked and found to hold NOTHING in Textron as of Q2 2026: all six known Capital Group filing entities read directly, each with its own Q2 2026 13F-HR filed 12 Aug 2026: Capital World Investors CIK 0001422849 (637 rows), Capital Research Global Investors CIK 0001422848 (426 rows), Capital International Investors CIK 0001562230 (446 rows), Capital International, Inc./CA/ CIK 0000895213 (302 rows), Capital International Ltd /CA/ CIK 0001065350 (150 rows), Capital International Sarl CIK 0001065349 (287 rows). No row in any of the six matches CUSIP 883203101 or any 'TEXTR' name fragment. Genuine negative, not an omission; no row recorded for Capital Group.
- No Schedule 13D or 13G has been filed against Textron since 14 Nov 2024 (a Vanguard-affiliated Amendment No. 14). The full SC 13D/13G filing history on EDGAR for CIK 0000217346 was checked back to 2015; no activist, strategic, or sovereign holder has filed a 13D or fresh 13G against Textron in that window, and none appears in the 2026 DEF 14A's 5%-owner table beyond the three passive institutional managers (BlackRock, State Street/SSgA, Vanguard) already captured here via fresher 13F data. No strategic or sovereign register row exists for this reason.
- Self-gate computed from this final file: 9 register rows, 92,194,540 total shares (Vanguard family + Fidelity + BlackRock + State Street + Invesco + T. Rowe Price family + Boston Partners + Geode + the directors/officers aggregate; no row rolls up into another, every row counts at full value), against shares_outstanding 171,986,917 = 53.61% of the company. This sits just under the brief's 55% flag threshold. Checked for the three usual causes (mixed instrument, mixed basis, double counting): none found. Every institutional row is the same CUSIP 883203101 common stock read directly from each holder's own Q2 2026 13F-HR (T. Rowe Price's two registrants explicitly rescaled from thousands, confirmed by an implied price consistent with every other filer). No holder appears twice: Vanguard and T. Rowe Price are each one family row, Capital Group is a note with no row, Boston Partners' non-filing sibling entities are noted but not summed in since they filed either 13F-NT or nothing. The high total is consistent with an independent check: this project's own 31 Mar 2026 13F register snapshot (data/registers/TXT.json) reports 155,180,119 total shares across 773 distinct 13F filers, about 90% of shares outstanding, so a top-9 concentration of 53.6% (roughly 59% of all 13F-reported shares) is plausible rather than double-counted.
- Implied per-share price check: dividing each institution's Q2 2026 13F dollar value by its share count returns approximately $91.72 to $91.75/share for every holder except one Geode Capital Management line, all dated 30 Jun 2026: Vanguard's 7 entities, FMR, BlackRock, State Street, Invesco, Boston Partners and both T. Rowe Price entities (after the thousands correction) all cluster tightly around $91.73/sh, a strong independent cross-check that these are all the same instrument at the same date. Geode's larger line (4,506,538 sh) implies ~$94.87/sh, flagged in its own method_note rather than silently averaged in or excluded.
- Current price used for market_cap_usd is a live intraday quote (Nasdaq API, $86.405, 19 Aug 2026 3:26pm ET) multiplied by the 17 Jul 2026 10-Q cover-page share count (171,986,917); the two dates are about five weeks apart because no single filing carries both a current price and a current share count. Disclosed rather than treated as precise. Textron's 52-week range as of this quote was $78.12 to $101.57, and $91.73/sh (the 30 Jun 2026 institutional implied price used across the register) falls within that range, consistent.
- Vanguard case: parent CIK 0000102909 filed Form 13F-NT (notice, no holdings) for Q2 2026, filed 13 Aug 2026, confirming the 'successors are the position' case (not the 'one parent row' case) per the brief's guidance.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- No 13D or 13G filed directly against Textron in the current window (none since Nov 2024) means any strategic or sovereign holder that fell below 5% and outside the top 8-9 13F holders checked here would not be visible through this method; a full sweep of every 13F filer below Boston Partners/Geode size was not performed.
- Named individual director and executive officer holdings (Atherton, Nowell and others) were read from the 2026 proxy but not itemized as separate register rows since none individually crosses 1%; only the 16-person aggregate is recorded.
- Market cap is a computed figure (live intraday price times the 17 Jul 2026 share count), not a figure read directly off one page that states market cap; see the note on the date mismatch.
- Boston Partners Asset Management LLC (CIK 0000949682), a related Boston Partners entity, filed no 13F at all for Q2 2026 (no filing found for the period), so it is not part of the summed Boston Partners row; only the CIK 0001386060 'Boston Partners' and the 13F-NT-filing CIK 0001491216 'Boston Partners Trust Co' were checked and confirmed.
