The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,074 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,074 managers reported a position, together holding 185.9m shares, or 86.8% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 214.3m shares outstanding at 28 Apr 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- The 13F exclusion, the T. Rowe Price case. T. Rowe Price is itself a registered investment adviser and files 13F-HR through two separate registrants: T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. (CIK 0000080255) and T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc. (CIK 0001897612), confirmed as two distinct filers in EDGAR submissions, each filing its own 13F-HR for the quarter ended 30 Jun 2026 (both filed 14 Aug 2026; Associates accession 0000080255-26-000519, Investment Management accession 0001897612-26-000578). Associates reported 4,722 positions totaling $999,124,702 thousand (about $999.1 billion, values in thousands, see the thousands-trap note on the register side). Investment Management reported 738 positions totaling $152,565,085 thousand (about $152.6 billion). Together these two filings report roughly $1.15 trillion of securities, which is client mutual fund and institutional account assets managed on behalf of T. Rowe's clients, not T. Rowe's own balance-sheet equity stakes. Per the brief's exclusion of client-held index-fund-style positions, no line item from either 13F appears in holdings. This is the same treatment this project's ameriprise.json and pnc.json apply to their own 13F filings.
- Both T. Rowe CIKs file 13F values in thousands of dollars, not whole dollars. Verified two ways: (1) T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. reported holding 309,510 shares of its own parent company's stock, TROW itself, at a raw XML value of $35,189, implying $0.11/share against a real TROW price of roughly $110-114 in that window; rescaling by 1,000 gives $113.70/share, matching. (2) The same Associates filing reports AAPL (via T. Rowe Price Investment Management for a cross-check) at raw value/shares ratios about 1,000x below AAPL's real price and consistent once rescaled. This is the same thousands convention documented on nine other companies' T. Rowe Price rows in this project; all T. Rowe-sourced dollar values in this file (register row and the primary_doc totals above) are rescaled 1,000x from the raw XML.
- What belongs in holdings: only T. Rowe's own balance-sheet equity-method investment in UTI Asset Management Company Limited (India), carried at $155.6 million as of 30 Jun 2026 (Q2 2026 10-Q) and $162.8 million as of 31 Dec 2025 (FY2025 10-K). The FY2025 10-K's equity-method investments table also lists 'T. Rowe Price investment products' (discretionary investments and redeemable seed capital investments) and 'Investments in affiliated private investment funds' (carried interest and seed/co-investment): these are T. Rowe's own seed capital and carried interest in funds it manages and sponsors itself, explicitly not a stake in another operating company per the brief, and are excluded. A further combined line, 'Investment partnerships and other investments' ($204.9 million at 31 Dec 2025, $162.1 million at 31 Dec 2024), is not broken out by investee in either the 10-K or the Q2 2026 10-Q; per the rule against assigning a combined balance to a single investee, no holdings row is created from it and it is listed in unknowns instead. Oak Hill Advisors (OHA), the alternative-credit / private-credit manager T. Rowe acquired in 2021, is a wholly owned, consolidated operating subsidiary (listed in the 10-K alongside T. Rowe Price Associates, T. Rowe Price Investment Management and T. Rowe Price International Ltd as one of the company's own entities), not a minority equity stake, and is correctly excluded as a wholly owned subsidiary.
- Register side, T. Rowe's own entities as a holder of TROW stock. Per the brief, both T. Rowe CIKs were checked directly against TROW's own CUSIP (74144T108) in their Q2 2026 13F-HR filings. T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. holds 309,510 TROW shares (its Q2 2026 13F, rescaled from thousands, see above). T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc. holds zero (CUSIP 74144T108 absent from its full info table). The register row above sums the two (effectively just Associates, since Investment Management contributes zero) and names both CIKs; is_aggregate is not set because nothing rolls up into it, per the brief's instruction for this family roll-up case.
- Vanguard case: 13F-NT (parent files no holdings, successors report the position). Vanguard Group Inc (CIK 0000102909) filed Form 13F-NT for the quarter ended 30 Jun 2026 (filed 13 Aug 2026), confirmed directly from its EDGAR submissions feed, so per the project's Vanguard rule the successor entities are summed rather than substituted with one parent row. Two successors were checked directly at 30 Jun 2026: Vanguard Capital Management LLC (13,972,686 shares) and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC (10,042,805 shares), summing to 24,015,491 shares. This project's own pre-built 13F register for TROW (data/registers/TROW.json, period 31 Mar 2026) shows six further, smaller Vanguard-affiliated successor entities holding TROW as of that earlier quarter (Vanguard Fiduciary Trust Co, Vanguard Global Advisers LLC, Vanguard Asset Management Ltd, Vanguard Investments Australia Ltd, Vanguard Personalized Indexing Management LLC, Vanguard National Trust Co, together about 2.3 million further shares as of 31 Mar 2026); these were not individually re-verified at the 30 Jun 2026 date within this task's time budget, so the Vanguard family total used here is a partial sum and likely understates the true family position by roughly that order of magnitude. See unknowns.
- Capital Group family checked and found absent. All three Capital Group 13F filers named in the brief were checked directly against CUSIP 74144T108 in their Q2 2026 filings and none holds TROW: Capital World Investors (CIK 0001422849), Capital International Investors (CIK 0001562230), Capital Research Global Investors (CIK 0001422848), each confirmed by a full-text CUSIP search with zero hits. No Capital Group row appears in the register because the checked position is a genuine zero, not an unchecked gap.
- Insider ownership is diversified, not founder-controlled. T. Rowe Price has a single class of common stock and no dual-class or founder-control structure. The largest individual insider holding in the 2026 proxy's beneficial ownership table belongs to Glenn R. August (2,371,616 shares, 1.1%), the founder and CEO of Oak Hill Advisors who joined T. Rowe's board when OHA was acquired in 2021, largely reflecting OHA-related equity received in that transaction and family-trust holdings he otherwise disclaims. CEO Robert W. Sharps holds 473,649 shares (less than 1%). The full 'Directors and All Executive Officers as a Group (22 persons)' totals 3,568,740 shares, 1.6% of class, per the proxy.
- Register cross-check against the proxy's own stale 13G summary. The 2026 proxy (based on Schedule 13G/A filings from Jan-Feb 2024) reports The Vanguard Group at 26,117,725 shares (12.00%), BlackRock, Inc. at 19,505,090 shares (8.96%), and State Street Corporation at 15,188,277 shares (6.98%) as of 20 Feb 2026's record date disclosure basis. The register instead uses each manager's Q2 2026 Form 13F-HR (30 Jun 2026 position date), which shows Vanguard's two largest successors alone already at 24,015,491 shares (11.26%, a partial figure per the note above) and BlackRock higher at 23,996,119 shares (11.25%) and State Street lower at 14,653,478 shares (6.87%). Vanguard and BlackRock's 13F totals plausibly bracket or exceed their stale 13G figures once the remaining smaller Vanguard successors are added; State Street's 13F figure is modestly below its stale 13G figure, consistent with a trim over 2024-2026 rather than a data error.
- Self-gate check, computed exactly as specified: 11 register rows. Raw shares sum with the aggregate group reduced to its residual (3,568,740 minus the 2,845,265 rolled up from Sharps and August equals 723,475) and every other row, including Sharps and August individually, counted at full value: 24,015,491 (Vanguard) + 23,996,119 (BlackRock) + 14,653,478 (State Street) + 6,263,829 (Geode) + 8,452,903 (Goldman Sachs) + 4,116,868 (Morgan Stanley) + 3,923,459 (Fayez Sarofim) + 309,510 (T. Rowe own entities) + 723,475 (director/officer group residual) + 473,649 (Sharps) + 2,371,616 (August) = 89,300,397 shares, or 41.86% of 213,315,850 shares outstanding. Within the expected 25-45% band.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The identity and split of investees inside T. Rowe's combined 'Investment partnerships and other investments' balance ($204.9 million at 31 Dec 2025, $162.1 million at 31 Dec 2024). Neither the FY2025 10-K nor the Q2 2026 10-Q names individual investees within this bucket.
- T. Rowe's exact current percentage ownership of UTI Asset Management Company Limited. The 22.69% figure used here comes from a third-party India shareholding-pattern aggregator (choiceindia.com) rather than a primary UTI AMC or T. Rowe filing that states the percentage directly; UTI AMC's own NSE/BSE shareholding disclosures were not fetched within this task's time budget.
- Six smaller Vanguard-affiliated 13F filers (Vanguard Fiduciary Trust Co, Vanguard Global Advisers LLC, Vanguard Asset Management Ltd, Vanguard Investments Australia Ltd, Vanguard Personalized Indexing Management LLC, Vanguard National Trust Co) were not individually re-checked for TROW at the 30 Jun 2026 date; only the two largest successors (Capital Management LLC and Portfolio Management LLC) were verified directly, so the Vanguard family register row is a partial sum and understates the true family total.
- T. Rowe's Q3 2026 10-Q was not yet filed as of 18 Aug 2026 per its EDGAR submissions feed, so any change in the UTI equity-method balance or other equity investments in that quarter is not reflected.
- Dollar values for the three insider register rows (the 22-person group, Sharps, August) are null: the proxy's beneficial ownership table gives share counts and percentages but not dollar values, and no share price as of the 20 Feb 2026 record date was independently sourced, so a value was not estimated rather than guessed.
- Full detail (share counts and dollar values) for the other 14 individually named directors and officers in the proxy's beneficial ownership table (Bartlett, Dardis, Donnelly, Dublon, Golston, MacLellan, Page, Rominger, Smith, Stevens, Veiel, Verma, Wijnberg, Wilson) was read but not broken into separate register rows; each is under 1% individually and is captured inside the 22-person group total.
