Address, industry classification, listing and incorporation come from Sysco Corporation's own SEC filer record, so the industry is the SEC's dry classification rather than a marketing label. The website comes from Wikidata. The headcount is the figure Wikidata carries for 2020, not a figure this site has verified against a filing. The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,544 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,544 managers reported a position, together holding 407.0m shares, or 85.1% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 478.2m shares outstanding at 10 Apr 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Holdings is an empty array as a sourced finding, not an omission. Sysco's most recent 10-Q (Q3 FY2026, period ended 28 March 2026, filed 29 Apr 2026) and its most recent 10-K (FY2025, period ended 28 June 2025, filed 22 Aug 2025) were both searched with scripts/filing.py for 'equity method', 'unconsolidated', 'joint venture', 'equity investment', 'investment in', 'affiliate', 'noncontrolling' and 'minority interest'. Neither filing shows any equity method investment, unconsolidated joint venture, or non-marketable equity security held by Sysco. Sysco's only joint venture in recent years was a Mexico foodservice joint venture, which it fully divested in Q2 FY2025 (Nov 2024); both filings reference that divestiture only in a comparative/historical sense, with no successor holding. The 'noncontrolling interest' hits in both filings refer to a third party's minority stake IN a Sysco-consolidated subsidiary (i.e. someone else's claim on Sysco's own balance sheet), not an investment Sysco holds in another company, so they are correctly excluded. No FY2026 10-K has been filed as of 17 August 2026 (Sysco's FY2026 ended around 27 June 2026 but the 10-K, based on the FY2025 pattern of a late-August filing, was not yet on EDGAR at research time; checked the CIK 0000096021 submissions feed directly).
- Sysco itself does not file a 13F (it is an operating company, not an investment manager), so there is no client-holdings exclusion analogous to the bank-holding-company files in this project.
- Trian Fund Management, historically an activist holder of Sysco (multiple Schedule 13D amendments 2018 to 2019, board representation era), no longer holds a reportable position. EDGAR full text search confirms Trian's last Sysco-specific Schedule 13D/A was Amendment No. 8, filed 20 March 2019 (accession 0001345471-19-000015); no further Sysco 13D or 13D/A has been filed by Trian (CIK 0001345471) since. Trian's own Q2 2026 Form 13F-HR (filed 12 Aug 2026, accession 0001345471-26-000035) lists only 9 positions (Ferguson, GE Aerospace, GE HealthCare, Invesco, Janus Henderson, Magnum Ice Cream, Solventum, two Wendy's lines) and none is Sysco. So Trian holds no Sysco stake via either the 13D or the 13F route as of the most recent filings; no Trian row is included in the register.
- Vanguard successor case (not the parent-holds-directly case): Vanguard Group Inc (CIK 0000102909) filed 13F-NT for Q2 2026, so its Sysco position is the sum of Vanguard Capital Management LLC and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC, per the Vanguard rule.
- Capital Group is three separate SEC filers per the brief. Only Capital Research Global Investors (CIK 0001422848) holds Sysco for Q2 2026, 5,227,694 shares. Capital World Investors (CIK 0001422849) and Capital International Investors (CIK 0001562230) were both individually checked against CUSIP 871829107 and hold none. This differs from the Q1 2026 13F register snapshot in data/registers/SYY.json, which shows a single 'Capital Group' entry of 8,876,299 shares under CIK 0001422848 only, consistent with only that one entity ever having held the position.
- Register reconciliation on Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street. Sysco's 2025 proxy statement (based on a Schedule 13G/A as of 12 Nov 2024, share count as of 17 Sep 2025) reports The Vanguard Group at 61,089,055 shares (12.77%), BlackRock, Inc. at 37,984,016 shares (7.94%), and State Street Corporation at 26,633,627 shares (5.57%), the only three holders it identifies above 5%. The register instead uses each manager's own Q2 2026 Form 13F-HR (30 June 2026 position dates): Vanguard's successors sum to 58,173,501 shares, BlackRock 43,028,910 shares, State Street 27,115,261 shares. Differences are consistent with roughly 8 to 9 months of ordinary position changes between the November 2024 13G/A and the June 2026 13F-HR snapshots, not a data error.
- Percentages for the nine institutional (Q2 2026 13F-HR) rows are computed against 478,182,608 common shares outstanding as of 10 April 2026 (Q3 FY2026 10-Q cover page), the most recent share count filed by Sysco itself before this research. The two proxy-sourced insider rows instead use the proxy's own denominator of 478,507,440 shares as of 17 September 2025 stated in the filing.
- Market capitalisation ($39.33bn) and share price ($82.18) are stockanalysis.com's figures as of 17 August 2026, intraday. Cross-check: 478,182,608 shares x $82.18 implies approximately $39.29 billion, close to the reported $39.33 billion (small difference consistent with a slightly larger current share count than the 10-Q cover figure, or rounding).
- Implied price per share (value/shares) for every Q2 2026 13F register row clusters tightly between $83.26 and $83.60, consistent with Sysco's actual share price around 30 June 2026 and showing no thousands-scaling error in any filer's XML.
- Self-gate: 9 non-aggregate, non-insider register rows (Vanguard, BlackRock, State Street, Geode, Capital Group, Bank of America, Morgan Stanley, Northern Trust, Wellington), summing to 165,596,888 shares, or 34.6% of the 478,182,608 shares outstanding used as the register denominator. Within the expected 25 to 45 percent range.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The exact number of Sysco shares outstanding as of 30 June 2026 (the register's as_of date). No Q4 FY2026 10-Q or FY2026 10-K had been filed on EDGAR as of 17 August 2026 (checked CIK 0000096021 submissions feed), so the most recent filed share count is 478,182,608 as of 10 April 2026 (Q3 FY2026 10-Q cover), used throughout as the shares_outstanding field and the register percentage denominator.
- Whether any Vanguard-affiliated 13F filer other than Vanguard Capital Management LLC and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC (for example Vanguard Advisers Inc or Vanguard Fiduciary Trust Co) also holds Sysco shares for Q2 2026. Not checked individually within the time budget; if one does, the true Vanguard aggregate is somewhat higher than the 58,173,501 shares used here.
- Holders ranked below Wellington in the Q1 2026 13F register snapshot (Invesco, Harris Associates, Boston Partners, Goldman Sachs, Northern Trust was checked, UBS AM, Dimensional Fund Advisors, D.E. Shaw, Longview Partners, Primecap, Diamond Hill, State Farm) were not individually re-verified against their own Q2 2026 13F-HR filings, since nine institutional holders plus two insider rows already satisfy the brief's top 8 to 12 requirement.
- No fresh Schedule 13D or 13G filed on Sysco common stock since the two Schedule 13G/A filings on 4 and 12 November 2024 (per the EDGAR filing index for CIK 0000096021), so the register leans on 13F data and the 2025 proxy's own summary of the most recent 13G/A filings rather than a newer independent 13G/13D cross-check for 2026.
- The composition of Sysco's FY2026 results and any post-30-June-2026 corporate actions are not reflected, since the FY2026 10-K has not yet been filed.
