The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,117 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,117 managers reported a position, together holding 96.9m shares, or 96.0% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 100.9m shares outstanding at 30 Apr 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Holdings side: the brief's lead about a retained minority stake from a partial private-equity divestiture is confirmed and current. In November 2022 Roper divested a majority 51% equity stake in its former industrial businesses (Indicor) to CD&R and retained a minority interest, initially 49%, now 43.4% as of 30 Jun 2026 (fair value $1,792.2m). This is Roper's ONLY holding under the brief's definition. Two other equity-method-style investments were searched for and found NOT to be current holdings: (1) an 18.2% limited partnership interest in CI Ultimate Holdings, L.P. (parent of Certinia Inc.), acquired 4 Aug 2023 for $125.0m, was SOLD in November 2024 for a $135.6m gain per the FY2025 10-K, and the $30.2m of 'cash taxes paid associated with our sale of an equity method investment' cited in the Q2 2026 10-Q's H1 2025 comparison period is this same Certinia sale (tax paid the year after the Nov 2024 closing), not a sign that Indicor was sold; (2) the FY2025 10-K and Q2 2026 10-Q were both searched in full for 'unconsolidated', 'noncontrolling interest', 'minority interest', 'retained interest', 'joint venture' and 'variable interest entity' and returned no other equity investees besides Indicor.
- The 10-Q and 10-K were also searched for 'stock split', 'two-for-one' and 'forward split' with zero hits in both; the balance sheet's issued-share progression (109.3m issued at 31 Dec 2025 to 109.4m issued at 30 Jun 2026, with outstanding falling 106.6m to 98.9m on continued buybacks) is continuous, consistent with ordinary repurchases rather than a split.
- Share basis: shares_outstanding of 98,900,874 is taken from the Q2 2026 10-Q cover page (as of 28 Jul 2026), used as the single denominator for every register row including the two proxy-sourced insider rows (whose own record date, 28 Feb 2026, has a slightly different outstanding count that was not separately sourced).
- Roper's high implied share price ($399.50, verified live at stockanalysis.com on 18 Aug 2026, 1:21pm EDT, and cross-checked against a separate MacroTrends/Yahoo-sourced $389.71 close for 17 Aug 2026 and a cited $586.95 all-time-high close on 5 Mar 2026) is genuinely correct rather than a scaling error: market cap of 98,900,874 shares x $399.50 implies approximately $39.51 billion, matching stockanalysis.com's reported $39.51bn market cap almost exactly. Roper simply has an unusually LOW share count (98.9 million) for its market cap, driven by a very high nominal stock price and sustained buybacks (proxy states cumulative repurchases of 4.844 million shares for about $1.814 billion through 20 Feb 2026), not by any recent split.
- T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc.'s Q2 2026 13F info table reports its value in THOUSANDS (raw $429,892 for 1,270,400 shares, an implied $0.34/share); rescaled by 1000 to $429,892,000, implying $338.43/share, matching the ~$338.39/share cluster every other institution's 13F implies for the same 30 Jun 2026 CUSIP. This cluster (BlackRock, WindAcre, State Street, Dodge & Cox, Wellington, Invesco, Harris Associates, Morgan Stanley, Goldman Sachs, Northern Trust, JPMorgan and all 8 Vanguard entities all imply $338.39 to $338.43/share) is the internal cross-check used to confirm the rescale rather than treat it as a coincidence.
- The proxy's own 5%-holder table (as of 28 Feb 2026, citing stale 13G/A filings) names three holders: The Vanguard Group at 12,477,080 shares (11.6%, per a 13G/A as of 31 Dec 2025, itself superseded by a further 13G/A filed 27 Mar 2026 stating Vanguard's subsidiaries have disaggregated and no longer share beneficial ownership with the parent entity), BlackRock, Inc. at 9,638,792 shares (9.0%, per a 13G/A as of 31 Dec 2023, nearly three years stale), and WindAcre Partnership LLC at approximately 7,100,000 shares (6.9%), sourced not from a WindAcre SEC filing but from 'a stockholder analysis report prepared by a third-party service provider' as of 19 Mar 2026, which the proxy explicitly says Roper has not independently verified. All three are superseded here by fresher Q2 2026 Form 13F-HR figures: Vanguard's family sums to 13,395,832 shares (13.54%), BlackRock to 9,890,694 shares (10.00%), and WindAcre to 8,630,200 shares (8.73%), all higher than the proxy's stale figures, consistent with continued accumulation rather than a data error.
- Capital Group family: all three CIKs required by the brief (Capital World Investors 0001422849, Capital International Investors 0001562230, Capital Research Global Investors 0001422848) were checked individually against their fresh Q2 2026 13F info tables (637, 446 and 426 rows respectively) using both 'ROPER TECHNOLOGIES' and the shorter 'ROPER TECH' fragments; none holds any Roper shares as of 30 Jun 2026, so no Capital Group row appears in the register.
- Self-gate check, computed with the chart's own arithmetic (member rows count at full value; only the aggregate they roll into is reduced by the member's value): 16 register rows (14 institutional 13F rows plus 2 insider rows). Members map: L. Neil Hunn's 531,591 shares roll into the 11-person officers/directors group. The group's raw 819,657 shares is reduced to a residual of 288,066 (819,657 minus 531,591); every other row, including Hunn's own row, counts at full value. Total = 62,451,810 shares against 98,900,874 shares outstanding, or 63.15%.
- That 63.15% is above the 25-45% range this project's other files have typically landed in, and above the 55% ceiling the research brief flags as a likely sign of a double-counted holder or mixed instrument basis. It was investigated rather than shipped as-is: every one of the 14 institutional 13F rows (across 21 distinct filing entities once the Vanguard family is expanded) implies the same $338.39 to $338.43 per share for the 30 Jun 2026 quarter-end, which is the internal check this project uses to catch unit errors, and none showed a mismatch once the T. Rowe thousands convention was corrected. The concentration is a genuine feature of Roper's ownership base rather than an error: Roper has an unusually small share count (98.9 million) for its market cap, and its top holders include two very large non-index 'conviction' positions (WindAcre 8.73% and Dodge & Cox 7.14%) on top of the big-three index managers already totaling 28.7%. As an external cross-check, stockanalysis.com's Statistics page reports Roper's aggregate institutional ownership (summed across every 13F filer, not just the 14 largest) at 105.16% of shares outstanding as of 18 Aug 2026, itself well above 100% (a known artifact of aggregators double-counting shares held by both an investment manager and the funds/sub-advisers it reports through). Against that backdrop, 63.15% concentration among only the top 14 institutional filers plus 2 insider rows is consistent with the underlying data rather than evidence of a double count.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Dollar values for the two insider register rows (L. Neil Hunn and the 11-person group) are null: the proxy gives share counts and a '<1%' label but not a dollar value, and no share price as of the 28 Feb 2026 record date was independently sourced.
- No fair value or share/unit count for Roper's 43.4% Indicor stake beyond what the 10-Q discloses (the $1,792.2m Level 3 fair value at 30 Jun 2026) was available; Indicor is private and does not file with the SEC, so no independent cross-check of that fair value exists outside Roper's own filings.
- Institutional holders below the top 14 shown here (e.g. UBS AM, Flossbach von Storch, Akre Capital Management, Principal Financial Group, D.E. Shaw, AQR Capital Management and others visible in this project's own Q1 2026 registers/ROP.json dataset) were not individually re-verified for Q2 2026 within the time budget.
- Roper's Q3 2026 10-Q was not yet filed as of 18 Aug 2026 per its EDGAR submissions feed (latest 10-Q on file is for the period ended 30 Jun 2026, filed 31 Jul 2026), so any Indicor valuation movement or ownership activity after 30 Jun 2026, including any developments in the pending Indicor Instrumentation sale to AMETEK, is not reflected here.
- The precise closing price used for the 30 Jun 2026 13F valuations (implied at $338.39 to $338.43/share across every filer) was not independently sourced from a market-data page; it is derived from internal consistency across 21+ independent 13F filings rather than a fetched quote.
