Description

The New York Times Company publishes The Times, a general interest news organization that distributes journalism through digital products, mobile apps and a printed newspaper, alongside licensing and commercial printing operations. It reports as one segment and sells a multiproduct bundle pairing the core news product with The Athletic, Games, Cooking, Audio and Wirecutter (its product review and recommendation offering). Subscriptions are the main engine: of $2.82 billion in 2025 revenues, $1.95 billion came from subscriptions (including $1.43 billion digital only), $566.0 million from advertising and $308.1 million from affiliate referral, licensing and other sources. The company ended 2025 with roughly 12.78 million subscribers across 234 countries and territories, of which about 12.21 million were digital only and about 6.48 million took the bundle or multiple products, at digital only average revenue per user of $9.68. Operating profit rose 22.9 percent to $431.6 million. By the second quarter of 2026 subscribers reached 13.35 million on quarterly revenues of $762.5 million, against a stated aim of 15 million subscribers by the end of 2027.

Who owns NEW YORK TIMES CO.

Nothing recorded on this side. That is a sourced finding rather than a gap where the research notes say so: see the notes below.

The full register, from 13F filings

The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 616 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.

616 managers reported a position, together holding 162.9m shares. The 40 largest are listed.

Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
