The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,076 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,076 managers reported a position, together holding 998.0m shares, or 84.2% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 1.19bn shares outstanding at 2 May 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- SEPARATION HAS NOT TAKEN EFFECT. Kraft Heinz's Q2 2026 10-Q (filed 5 Aug 2026, covering the quarter ended 27 Jun 2026) states under 'Previously Announced Separation Transaction': 'On September 2, 2025, we announced a plan to separate the Company into two independent, publicly traded companies through a tax-free spin-off (the Separation). On February 11, 2026, we announced that the Kraft Heinz Board of Directors has decided to pause work related to the Separation. If work related to the Separation is resumed, the Separation would be subject to the satisfaction of customary conditions, including final approval by the Board...' As of the 10-Q's filing date and today's research date, the Separation is announced but PAUSED, not completed, not abandoned. company.shares_outstanding (1,185,823,758) is on the current, single-company basis, and every register row in this file is measured on that same current basis. No adjustment for a not-yet-effective transaction was made, consistent with the brief's warning against the Honeywell mistake.
- Holdings side is empty by design, a sourced finding rather than a gap. Kraft Heinz's FY2025 10-K (filed 12 Feb 2026) and Q2 2026 10-Q (filed 5 Aug 2026) were both searched for 'equity method', 'unconsolidated', 'joint venture', 'non-marketable', 'investments in affiliate', 'cost method' and 'noncontrolling interest'. The only 'joint venture' hits in either filing are generic risk-factor boilerplate about possible future strategic activity ('we may continue to evaluate acquisition candidates, divestiture opportunities, alliances, joint ventures, or investments'), not a description of any actual equity-method investee. The only 'noncontrolling interest' hits describe a small noncontrolling interest IN Kraft Heinz's own consolidated subsidiaries (a redeemable noncontrolling interest of $13 million and a consolidated noncontrolling interest of $111 million at 27 Jun 2026), which is a minority interest held by someone else in a Kraft Heinz subsidiary, not an equity stake Kraft Heinz holds in another company. No non-marketable equity security, unconsolidated joint venture, or named investee was found in either filing. Kraft Heinz does not appear to hold a strategic equity stake in any other company; its own trademarks and brands (Kraft, Heinz, Oscar Mayer, Philadelphia and others) are valuable intangible assets but are not equity stakes and are excluded here per the brief.
- 5%-holder table read in full. Kraft Heinz's 3 Apr 2026 DEF 14A Principal Stockholders table lists exactly three 5%-plus holders as of 16 Mar 2026: Berkshire Hathaway (325,442,152 shares, 27.45%, footnoted to a stale Feb 2024 13G/A), BlackRock (69,611,521 shares, 5.87%, stale 13G-sourced), and The Vanguard Group (101,970,445 shares, 8.60%, stale 13G-sourced). No other institutional or strategic holder (no 3G Capital, no sovereign fund) appears in the 5% table. The register above supersedes the proxy's stale BlackRock and Vanguard figures with each manager's fresh 30 Jun 2026 Form 13F-HR data (BlackRock rises to 76,372,193 shares / 6.44%; Vanguard family rises to 104,916,326 shares / 8.85%), consistent with the project's standard approach of preferring the fresher 13F basis; both stale proxy figures are preserved in each row's method_note.
- Berkshire corroboration, both sides of this database. This file's Berkshire row (325,634,818 shares, 27.4606% against this file's own 1,185,823,758 shares outstanding) was sourced independently by parsing Berkshire's own Q2 2026 13F-HR information table directly, the same underlying filing berkshire.json cites (325,634,818 shares, 27.5%, sourced there to the same 13F plus Note 5 of Berkshire's Q2 2026 10-Q). The two figures match exactly (325,634,818 shares) because both were read from the identical primary source; the genuinely independent cross-check is Kraft Heinz's OWN Schedule 13G/A (Amendment No. 6, filed 14 Feb 2024, event date 31 Dec 2023) and DEF 14A (filed 3 Apr 2026, repeating the 13G/A figure), which separately give 325,442,152 shares, 27.45%. The two sides agree to within 192,666 shares (0.06 percentage points), a gap fully explained by the roughly 2.5-year difference between the 13G/A's Dec 2023 measurement date and the 13F's Jun 2026 date; this is treated as genuine two-sided corroboration rather than a discrepancy, exactly as the brief anticipates.
- company.shares_outstanding cross-check: this file independently sourced 1,185,823,758 shares of common stock outstanding as of 1 Aug 2026 directly from the cover page of Kraft Heinz's own Q2 2026 10-Q ('As of August 1, 2026, there were 1,185,823,758 shares of the registrant's common stock outstanding'). This is the EXACT figure named in berkshire.json's Kraft Heinz cross-check note, confirming full agreement between the two files' denominators.
- Self-gate, computed exactly as the chart computes it (no row in this register carries is_aggregate or rolls_up_into, so every row counts at full value): 11 register rows, summing to 626,532,562 shares against 1,185,823,758 shares outstanding, or 52.8352%. This sits well above the brief's general 25 to 45 percent expectation, but is explicitly anticipated here: Berkshire alone contributes 325,634,818 shares (27.4606 percentage points). Excluding Berkshire, the remaining 10 rows sum to 300,897,744 shares (25.3746%), squarely inside the normal range for the other institutional and insider holders combined.
- Kraft Heinz has a single class of common stock ($0.01 par value; the 10-Q cover page registers only 'Common stock, $0.01 par value' plus listed debt securities, no separate voting/non-voting share class); there is no dual-class structure.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Whether 3G Capital (the other large historical holder alongside Berkshire from the 2015 Kraft/Heinz merger) still holds a meaningful Kraft Heinz stake below the 5% proxy disclosure threshold; its absence from the current 5%-holder table is evidence it is below 5%, not evidence of zero, and its 13F/13G filings were not independently checked within the time budget.
- Whether Wellington Management, Dodge & Cox, or Goldman Sachs Asset Management hold Kraft Heinz: not checked, and none appear in Kraft Heinz's own proxy 5% table, so their absence here is not itself evidence they hold nothing, only that they were not independently verified.
- Individual director/officer breakdown beyond the single 21-person group total: the 2026 proxy discloses each director and NEO's holding individually, but since none reaches a materially distinct figure (the group total itself is under 1% of the company), this file relies on the group's own published total rather than itemizing all 21 as separate rows.
- Dollar value for the officers-and-directors group row is null: the proxy's beneficial ownership table gives share counts and a 'less than 1%' designation but not a dollar value, and no share price as of the 16 Mar 2026 practical date was independently sourced, so no value was estimated.
- Whether Berkshire has filed any Schedule 13D on Kraft Heinz (as opposed to 13G): EDGAR's browse-edgar company search for Kraft Heinz (CIK 0001637459) filing type 'SC 13D' returned zero results, consistent with Berkshire always having filed on Schedule 13G for this position; this was checked, not merely assumed.
