Address, industry classification, listing and incorporation come from Elevance Health, Inc.'s own SEC filer record, so the industry is the SEC's dry classification rather than a marketing label. The website comes from Wikidata. The headcount is the figure the Wikipedia article states for 2024, not a figure this site has verified against a filing. Select a row or a slice for its provenance: the filing it came from, when it was measured, and the arithmetic behind it if it was modelled.
The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,446 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,446 managers reported a position, together holding 194.7m shares, or 89.6% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 217.2m shares outstanding at 15 Apr 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Elevance Health does not file its own Form 13F. Checked the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0001156039 (https://data.sec.gov/submissions/CIK0001156039.json): the full set of form types on file for this CIK, going back to 2013, contains no 13F-HR, 13F-HR/A or 13F-NT of any kind. This is treated as a confirmed absence, not a search gap; there is therefore no self-filed 13F position count or total value to report as portfolio investment.
- THE INSURER TRAP, applied: Elevance's general-account investment portfolio (fixed maturity securities, exchange-traded and common equity securities, limited partnership investments and money-market/short-term holdings) is investment held for the insurance business, not strategic ownership, and produces no holdings rows. Searched the Q2 2026 10-Q and FY2025 10-K for 'equity method', 'unconsolidated', 'joint venture', 'strategic investment', 'Carelon', 'BioPlus', 'Paragon', 'Mosaic Health' and 'affiliate'/'noncontrolling'. Carelon (Carelon Health, CarelonRx, Carelon Management Services) and the Centers, CareBridge and Paragon Healthcare acquisitions are wholly owned operating subsidiaries and are excluded per the brief. 'BioPlus' returns zero hits in either filing. 'Strategic investment' as an exact phrase also returns zero hits; the two real minority stakes found (Mosaic Health, Liberty Dental) are both described in the filings as equity-method joint ventures, not under that label.
- The combined balance 'Equity method investments and joint ventures' ($3,112 million at 30 Jun 2026, $3,136 million at 31 Dec 2025, within the 'Other invested assets' note) covers Mosaic Health, Liberty Dental and other unnamed LPs and investee companies together and sizes none of them individually, per the brief's rule 5. The only individually-sized dollar figures found for either investee are contribution/commitment amounts at specific past dates (Mosaic Health's $2,580m plus $300m contributions; Liberty Dental's $250m preferred equity commitment), which are recorded in holdings with method notes explaining they are cost or commitment figures, not current fair value.
- Elevance holds Level III net put option LIABILITIES against both joint ventures, not assets: $1,330 million on Mosaic Health and $396 million on Liberty Dental, both at 30 Jun 2026, representing Elevance's obligation to eventually sell blocks of its equity back to the majority owners (Mosaic Health as early as 2028, Liberty Dental as early as Q3 2026). These are excluded from the holdings values.
- The Vanguard case is the successor case (parent CIK 0000102909 filed 13F-NT, no holdings, for the quarter ended 30 June 2026), not the combined-family case used for Capital Group. Vanguard Capital Management LLC and Vanguard Portfolio Management LLC, the two Vanguard successor CIKs verified for this project, are summed into one register row per the brief's Vanguard rule.
- Capital Group is the combined-family case: three separate Capital Group entities (Capital World Investors, Capital Research Global Investors, Capital International Investors) each file their own Form 13F-HR. Only one, Capital International Investors (CIK 0001562230), holds Elevance this quarter (751,772 shares); the other two were checked by both issuer-name fragment and CUSIP and confirmed to hold no Elevance position.
- T. Rowe Price Associates reports 13F values in thousands, not whole dollars, unlike every other filer checked here (implied $0.39/share raw versus $386.73/share for BlackRock and State Street on the same CUSIP in the same quarter); rescaled by x1,000 in the register row and documented in its method_note.
- Elevance Health has a single class of common stock, one vote per share; there is no dual-class structure or founder control block. Gail K. Boudreaux (President and CEO) is the largest individual insider holder at 442,597 shares (0.190%), well below the level of a strategic or activist stake.
- No Schedule 13D or 13G filed on Elevance within the past year was found. The EDGAR browse-edgar filing list for CIK 0001156039 under type SC 13 shows the most recent such filing as a small T. Rowe Price SC 13G/A dated 14 Nov 2024; the DEF 14A's cited Vanguard Schedule 13G/A of 7 May 2025 and BlackRock Schedule 13G do not appear as separate line items in that same browse listing (likely filed in a form that EDGAR does not cross-index to the subject CIK's own filing list in the same way), so their figures are used only via the proxy's own citation, for reconciliation against the 13F figures, not as an independently-fetched 13D/G source.
- 13F values are each manager's own reported market value at 30 June 2026, in whole dollars except T. Rowe Price (thousands, rescaled). The twelve Q2 2026 13F filings used here imply a consistent Elevance quarter-end mark of approximately $386.73 per share.
- Market capitalization ($84.63 billion) and share price ($390.24) are as published on stockanalysis.com intraday on 17 August 2026 (a market-data page, not a filing); shares outstanding used everywhere else in this file comes from Elevance's own Q2 2026 10-Q cover page (216,869,290 shares as of 10 July 2026).
- Self-gate (computed from this file, per the chart's own logic): the 13 institutional 13F rows (Vanguard combined, BlackRock, State Street, Wellington, Geode, T. Rowe Price, Norges Bank, FMR, Morgan Stanley, Northern Trust, MFS, Bank of America, Capital Group) plus the Boudreaux member row (counted at full value) plus the officers-and-directors aggregate row reduced by its one marked member (799,910 - 442,597 = 357,313) sum to 85,189,975 shares, which is 39.28% of the 216,869,290 shares-outstanding denominator. This falls inside the 25 to 45% band the brief expects.
- No em dashes are used in any text field per the brief.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Current fair or carrying value of Elevance's individual equity-method stakes in Mosaic Health and in Liberty Dental. Both FY2025 10-K Note 5 and Q2 2026 10-Q Note 4 disclose only a combined 'Equity method investments and joint ventures' balance covering both plus other unnamed LPs, never split by investee.
- Dollar amount of Elevance's original January 2023 equity investment in Liberty Dental. Searched the FY2025 10-K (the only paragraph naming a figure for Liberty Dental concerns a separate mandatorily redeemable preferred equity commitment, not the original common equity-method investment) and the Q2 2026 10-Q; neither discloses this amount.
- Whether any Schedule 13D or 13G was filed on Elevance Health between the DEF 14A's cited 7 May 2025 Vanguard 13G/A and 17 August 2026. The EDGAR browse-edgar company filing list for CIK 0001156039 (type SC 13) shows nothing after 14 Nov 2024, but the DEF 14A itself cites a 7 May 2025 filing not appearing there, so this listing may be incomplete for the most recent 5% owners; no independent EDGAR full-text sweep beyond what the DEF 14A itself cites was completed within the time budget.
- Elevance's Q3 2026 10-Q (period ending on or about 30 September 2026) was not yet filed as of 17 August 2026 (checked against the EDGAR submissions feed for CIK 0001156039), so any change in the equity-method joint venture balances or the Mosaic Health/Liberty Dental put option liabilities since 30 June 2026 is not visible.
- Whether Elevance's 'Limited partnership investments' ($3,217 million at 30 Jun 2026) contain any individually material, named strategic stake distinct from ordinary diversified LP fund investments. Neither filing gives a per-LP breakdown, and 'strategic investment' as a phrase returns zero hits in either filing.
