Address, industry classification, listing and incorporation come from Cardinal Health, Inc.'s own SEC filer record, so the industry is the SEC's dry classification rather than a marketing label. The website comes from Wikidata. The headcount is the figure the Wikipedia article states for 2025, not a figure this site has verified against a filing. No position on this side carries a sourced value, so there is nothing to chart. The table still lists 1 of them.
Select a row or a slice for its provenance: the filing it came from, when it was measured, and the arithmetic behind it if it was modelled.
The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,409 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,409 managers reported a position, together holding 200.4m shares, or 86.2% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 232.6m shares outstanding at 31 Jul 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Cardinal Health has a June 30 fiscal year end. The FY2026 Form 10-K (period ended 30 June 2026, filed 11 August 2026, accession 0000721371-26-000038) is the most recent 10-K/10-Q on file as of 17 August 2026; a Q1 FY2027 10-Q would not be due until around November 2026, so the 10-K is the correct, more recent source used here.
- Holdings: two direction-trap cases were checked and excluded per the brief. (1) GI Alliance ('GIA'): Cardinal Health acquired a 73 percent ownership interest in January 2025 for approximately $2.8 billion, now part of The Specialty Alliance, a consolidated majority-owned platform, not a Cardinal minority stake; the minority remains with GIA's physician sellers, the reverse direction. (2) Solaris Health, Urology America, and other Specialty Alliance / Navista and ION physician-practice platform interests follow the same majority-acquired, MSO pattern and are excluded on the same basis. Both wholly owned subsidiaries (Oak Street-style outright acquisitions do not apply here, but ordinary wholly owned acquisitions such as Advanced Diabetes Supply Group) are excluded as operating subsidiaries.
- One genuine Cardinal-side minority stake could not be sized or named: the FY2026 10-K's Legal Proceedings section discloses that Cardinal Health received a Civil Investigative Demand from the DOJ concerning a 2022 transaction in which it purchased a group purchasing organization and 'a minority ownership interest in a rheumatology managed services organization.' No entity name, percentage, or dollar figure is given anywhere in the 10-K (checked 'rheumatology', 'United Rheumatology', 'Rheumatology Alliance', all in the FY2026 10-K). This is recorded in unknowns rather than holdings because it cannot be attached to a named target_name without inventing one.
- Holdings searched in the FY2026 10-K (accession 0000721371-26-000038) for: 'equity method', 'unconsolidated', 'joint venture' (no hits), 'equity investments', 'investment in', 'affiliate', 'noncontrolling interest', 'minority interest', 'GI Alliance', 'Navista', 'carrying value', 'fair value measurement', 'Level 3', 'nonrecurring', 'Outcomes'. The only named, sized-by-percentage minority equity-method interest found is the 16 percent stake in Outcomes (see holdings). Cardinal's own 'noncontrolling interests' balance ($159 million at 30 June 2026 per the consolidated balance sheet) is third-party interests in Cardinal-consolidated entities (e.g., the minority sellers' stakes in GIA, Solaris, ION/Navista), the reverse direction, and does not belong in holdings.
- Register: the Vanguard case here is the SUCCESSOR case, not the summed-family case used for some other companies in this project. Parent The Vanguard Group, Inc. (CIK 0000102909) filed a Form 13F-NT (notice only) for the quarter ended 30 June 2026, so its successors, Vanguard Capital Management (CIK 0002100119) and Vanguard Portfolio Management (CIK 0002100121), ARE the position and are summed (29,010,080 shares total) per the brief's Vanguard rule.
- Capital Group: all three separate Capital Group 13F-HR filers were checked for the quarter ended 30 June 2026 per the brief. Only Capital International Investors (CIK 0001562230) holds Cardinal Health common stock, 72,302 shares. Capital World Investors (CIK 0001422849) and Capital Research Global Investors (CIK 0001422848) both show no CUSIP 14149Y108 row in their Q2 2026 information tables.
- T. Rowe Price Associates' Form 13F-HR reports its value column in thousands of dollars for this position (implying $0.24 per share against the reported share count), 1,000x below the ~$237.6 per-share mark implied by every other 30 June 2026 filer; value_usd was rescaled to $533,342,000 and documented in that row's method_note. This is the thousands-convention issue flagged in the research brief.
- MFS (CIK 0000912938), Dodge & Cox (CIK 0000200217), Capital World Investors (CIK 0001422849), and Capital Research Global Investors (CIK 0001422848) were all checked against their Q2 2026 13F-HR information tables and show no Cardinal Health position (no row for CUSIP 14149Y108 or the 'CARDINAL' / 'CARDINAL HEALTH' name fragment).
- The 2025 DEF 14A (record date 8 September 2025) reports 5 percent+ beneficial ownership for The Vanguard Group (31,266,013 shares, 13.2 percent) and State Street Corporation (14,540,655 shares, 6.1 percent), both sourced from stale Schedule 13G/A filings (Feb 2024 and Jan 2024 respectively). These proxy-vintage figures are superseded here by the fresher, directly filed 30 June 2026 Form 13F-HR figures for Vanguard's successors and State Street above and are not duplicated as separate rows.
- No Schedule 13D has ever been filed on Cardinal Health common stock (checked the SEC EDGAR SC 13 filing history for CIK 0000721371 back to 2018); the most recent Schedule 13G/A is dated 24 October 2024. No activist or control-seeking holder was found.
- 13F values on 30 June 2026 filings (aside from the corrected T. Rowe Price row) imply a consistent CAH quarter-end mark near $237.6 per share, versus $235.66 at the 17 August 2026 close used for market cap; a modest decline over the intervening seven weeks.
- No em dashes are used in any text field per the brief.
- Self-gate: 17 register rows (14 raw institutional/insider rows plus the Vanguard successor pair pre-summed into 1 row, plus the aggregate insider group row); row count as scored by the brief's script is 16 (Vanguard counted once as already-summed). Computed total per the brief's method: 110,253,656 shares against 232,575,728 shares outstanding = 47.41 percent. Within the 15 to 55 percent expected band.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The legal name, percentage, and value of Cardinal Health's minority ownership interest in an unnamed rheumatology managed services organization, purchased in a 2022 transaction and currently subject to a DOJ Civil Investigative Demand. Searched the FY2026 10-K for 'rheumatology', 'United Rheumatology', and 'Rheumatology Alliance'; none returned an entity name, ownership percentage, or dollar figure.
- The carrying value or fair value of Cardinal Health's 16 percent equity method investment in Outcomes as of 30 June 2026. The FY2026 10-K discloses only the percentage (16 percent) and the fiscal 2026 impairment charge ($122 million); no balance-sheet carrying amount, Level 3 fair value roll-forward, or Outcomes legal entity name was found. Searched 'carrying value', 'fair value measurement', 'Level 3', 'nonrecurring', 'Other assets consist', 'equity method investments of', 'Investments in unconsolidated'.
- Whether any Schedule 13G/A has been filed on Cardinal Health since 24 October 2024 (the most recent on file as of this research); the annual 13G/A amendment window (typically January-February) for calendar 2026 was not separately checked beyond the EDGAR SC 13 filing history browse, which showed nothing newer.
- Individual share classes or vote-per-share structure: Cardinal Health has a single class of common stock (confirmed in the FY2026 10-K: 'Only Class A common shares were outstanding at June 30, 2026 and 2025'), so no share_classes breakdown is needed.
- Whether Solaris Health's exact Cardinal ownership percentage (the 10-K states 'we own appr[oximately]...' but the fragment was not fully read) differs materially from GIA's 73 percent; not pursued further since both are excluded under the reverse-direction rule regardless of the exact percentage.
