Select a row or a slice for its provenance: the filing it came from, when it was measured, and the arithmetic behind it if it was modelled.
The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 5,998 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
5,998 managers reported a position, together holding 9.36bn shares, or 64.1% of the company. The 40 largest are listed.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What the filings say against what the research found
Every holding above was also resolved directly from EDGAR through a precedence rule: the company's own filing outranks a 13D or 13G, which outranks a 13F, which outranks hand research. A 13F reports only US listed, long, US custodied positions, so it is a floor rather than a level. Where sources disagree the higher one leads and the lower is kept beside it.
No position here shows a material gap between sources.

What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- Apple has a single class of common stock, one vote per share. There is no dual class structure and no founder control block: insiders together hold about 0.06 percent. The register is therefore an institutional story, not a control story.
- Apple does not file Form 13F. Its EDGAR filing history from 1994 to August 2026 contains 10-K, 10-Q, 8-K, DEF 14A, S-3ASR, S-8, Schedule 13G and Section 16 forms, and no 13F of any type. Source: https://data.sec.gov/submissions/CIK0000320193.json
- Apple's Q3 FY2026 Form 10-Q, period ended 27 June 2026, discloses no non-marketable equity securities and no equity method investments. Its 148.6bn dollar investment portfolio is cash, money market funds, mutual funds of 1,094m dollars fair value, government and corporate debt, and mortgage and asset backed securities. The FY2025 Form 10-K contains no occurrence of the phrases non-marketable, equity investment, equity method or Globalstar. The short holdings list is a real finding, not an incomplete search.
- The Globalstar position is routinely reported in the press as Apple owning 20 percent of Globalstar, Inc. That is wrong. Globalstar's own 10-Q states Apple, referred to as the Customer, purchased 400,000 Class B Units in Globalstar Licensee LLC, the Globalstar SPE, for 400m dollars on 5 November 2024, a 20 percent equity interest in that subsidiary only. Globalstar holds 1,600,000 Class A Units, 80 percent, and consolidates the SPE as a variable interest entity of which it is the primary beneficiary. The SPE had total assets of 1,018.7m dollars at 30 June 2026 and has no commercial operations.
- The Globalstar stake is being bought out. Under the pending Amazon merger agreement, Amazon's Acquisition Sub II will acquire all of Apple's Class B Units following closing. Globalstar's 10-Q filed 6 August 2026 still describes the mergers as pending, so Apple still held the units at that date. Apple's separate 2024 prepayment agreement was amended on 13 April 2026 to raise the maximum High Power Infrastructure Prepayment Balance by about 468m dollars to about 1.58bn dollars. That is a commercial prepayment, not equity, and is excluded from holdings.
- Berkshire Hathaway has trimmed hard and then stopped. Filed 13F share counts for Apple: 300,000,000 at 31 Dec 2024, 280,000,000 at 30 Jun 2025, 227,917,808 at 31 Dec 2025, 227,917,808 at 31 Mar 2026, and 227,917,808 at 30 Jun 2026. The position is down 24 percent from the end of 2024 but has been flat for the last three reported quarters. - Vanguard restructured its reporting on 12 January 2026. The Vanguard Group, Inc. filed a Schedule 13G/A on 26 March 2026 reporting zero shares of Apple, because its subsidiaries now report on a disaggregated basis. The 1,099,168,953 shares recorded here are the Vanguard Capital Management LLC group filing with event date 31 March 2026, which explicitly excludes other Vanguard subsidiaries. Total Vanguard-affiliated ownership of Apple is therefore higher than 7.48 percent. For comparison, the 2026 proxy reported The Vanguard Group at 1,415,826,462 shares, 9.63 percent, as of 30 June 2025 under the old aggregated basis. - Percentages for the 13F holders are computed by this file as shares divided by 14,594,180,000 shares outstanding at 17 July 2026, the Q3 FY2026 10-Q cover page count. The Vanguard figure of 7.48 percent is the percentage stated by the filer itself against its own 31 March 2026 denominator: recomputed against the July count it is 7.53 percent. The two insider percentages use the 14,697,926,000 shares outstanding stated in the proxy at its 2 January 2026 table date.
- Buybacks move the denominator materially. Apple repurchased 62,094m dollars of stock in the nine months to 27 June 2026, including May 2026 accelerated share repurchases. Shares outstanding fell from 14,697,926,000 at 2 January 2026 to 14,594,180,000 at 17 July 2026, and weighted average basic shares fell from 14,902,886 thousand in Q3 FY2025 to 14,656,110 thousand in Q3 FY2026. Any percentage of Apple must be read with its denominator date.
- Market cap is computed as 14,594,180,000 shares times the 305.93 dollar close on 14 August 2026, the last close before the 16 August 2026 research date, giving 4,464,797,487,400 dollars. stockanalysis.com reports 4.46 trillion dollars on the same page, which agrees.
- BlackRock's Apple stake was taken from the 13F-HR filed by BlackRock, Inc., CIK 0002012383, on 7 August 2026. The BlackRock entities that previously filed holdings, including BlackRock Institutional Trust Company and BlackRock Advisors, now file 13F-NT notices pointing to that filer. Ten Apple option rows in the same filing were excluded from the share count. The 2026 proxy still cites a BlackRock Schedule 13G/A as of 31 December 2023 at 1,043,713,019 shares, 7.10 percent, which is more than two years stale.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- Any current fair value or carrying amount for Apple's 20 percent interest in the Globalstar SPE. Looked in Apple's Q3 FY2026 10-Q and FY2025 10-K: neither names Globalstar or discloses non-marketable equity securities. Globalstar's 10-Q gives only the original 400m dollar purchase price.
- What Apple receives for its Globalstar SPE units when the Amazon merger closes. Globalstar's 10-Q states Acquisition Sub II will acquire all Customer Class B Units but does not state the consideration payable to Apple.
- Whether Apple took any equity stake in a supplier or AI partner during 2025 or 2026. Nothing appears in the FY2025 10-K or the three FY2026 10-Qs, and Apple filed no 8-K announcing one. A web search surfaced only commercial arrangements: a reported Google Gemini licensing deal for Siri and a reported preliminary Intel manufacturing agreement. No fetched page evidenced an equity purchase, so nothing is recorded as a holding.
- Apple's reported 1bn dollar 2016 investment in Didi Chuxing and its participation in the Bain-led consortium that acquired Toshiba Memory, now Kioxia. Neither appears in any Apple filing checked here, no share counts were found in a primary source, and both are excluded rather than estimated.
- A current Schedule 13G from BlackRock. The most recent one on Apple's EDGAR page as subject company is from 12 February 2024. Only the 13F gives a 2026 BlackRock number, and a 13F excludes any shares held outside the 13F reporting universe.
- Vanguard's total affiliated ownership after the January 2026 disaggregation. Only one Vanguard-affiliate Schedule 13G for Apple was filed in 2026, by the Vanguard Capital Management group. Vanguard Group, Inc. now files 13F-NT so no consolidated 13F position exists.
