The full register, from 13F filings
The Register tab above is hand research: a dozen holders, each traced to the filing it came from. This asks the same question of the whole market for the quarter ended 31-mar-2026, where 1,098 managers reported a position. Broad where the research is deep, and shallow in the ways a 13F always is.
1,098 managers reported a position, together holding 500.9m shares, or 94.5% of the company. The 40 largest are listed. Percentages are of the 530.2m shares outstanding at 24 Apr 2026, the count in force when this quarter was measured rather than the count today.
Built from 13F filings, which report US listed, long, US custodied positions only. A register from this source is a floor rather than a level: a holder's true position can be far larger, as BlackRock's ASML stake shows at 1.28m shares in a 13F against 26.3m in its 13G/A. Holdings held through derivatives, outside US custody, or below a manager's reporting obligation do not appear. Where a holder is marked as a family, its total sums several separate filing entities and describes something no single filing describes; the constituent entities and their share counts are listed so the total can be checked. That roll-up can legitimately exceed the family's own Schedule 13G, because a 13G is filed by one legal entity: Vanguard reports Alphabet through ten advisory entities, and The Vanguard Group Inc itself reported zero after its January 2026 disaggregation.
What a reader needs to know to read these numbers
- The interesting divestment: AIG no longer holds any Corebridge Financial, Inc. stock. Corebridge is AIG's former Life & Retirement segment, separately listed since its September 2022 IPO and progressively divested since. The Q2 2026 10-Q's Sale of Assets note gives two closing dates and values proving a full exit: on 17 Feb 2026, Corebridge itself repurchased 24.7 million shares of its common stock from AIG at $30.42 per share for $750 million of proceeds to AIG; on 23 Mar 2026, in light of the reduced stake, AIG's two remaining board designees resigned from Corebridge's board and AIG concluded it no longer had significant influence, reclassifying its remaining interest from an equity-method investment to an equity security at fair value; on 7 May 2026, AIG sold its remaining 25.5 million Corebridge shares at $27.90 per share for approximately $710 million, explicitly described in the filing as 'representing our remaining interest in Corebridge'. The 10-Q's Other Invested Assets table confirms 'Retained investment in Corebridge using fair value option' at $1,512 million as of 31 Dec 2025 and nil (dash) as of 30 Jun 2026. Because the divestment is complete, no Corebridge row appears in holdings.
- General-account exclusion. AIG's Q2 2026 10-Q balance sheet shows Total investments of $91,676 million as of 30 Jun 2026 ($92,999 million at 31 Dec 2025), the fixed-maturity, equity-securities and other-invested-asset portfolio backing policyholder liabilities and surplus. Per the project's standing rule (see metlife.json, prudential.json), this general-account portfolio is not a set of strategic holdings and none of its line items are listed as holdings here, except the two named, explicitly labelled 'Strategic Investments' (Convex and Onex) discussed below, which AIG itself distinguishes from ordinary portfolio securities in the same filing.
- AIG's own Form 13F-HR exclusion. AIG (CIK 0000005272) files its own Form 13F-HR, reflecting discretionary asset-management positions rather than AIG's own balance-sheet strategic stakes. Its most recent filing, for the quarter ended 30 Jun 2026 (filed 13 Aug 2026, accession 0000005272-26-000080), reports exactly one position: Rubrik, Inc. (CUSIP 781154109), 36,478 shares, reported value $2,928,454. This value implies roughly $80.28 per share, consistent with Rubrik's actual trading range in mid-2026 (roughly $70 to $90), confirming the filing's value field is in whole dollars, not thousands, so the position is approximately $2.93 million, not billions. This single small position is excluded from holdings per the brief.
- Separate-account and unit-linked assets: not applicable in the current filings searched. AIG's Q2 2026 10-Q contains no 'separate account' or unit-linked disclosure; this is consistent with AIG having divested its Life & Retirement/Corebridge annuity and variable-life business (the segment that historically carried separate accounts), leaving the remaining General Insurance business without material separate-account assets.
- Two genuine strategic holdings found and included, both closed the same day, 6 Feb 2026, and both labelled 'Strategic Investments' by AIG's own 10-Q, distinct from ordinary general-account securities: a 35 percent equity-method stake in Convex Group Limited (private global specialty insurer, $2.1 billion purchase price, $2,188 million carrying value at 30 Jun 2026), and a 9.9 percent, 7,500,000-share stake in Onex Corporation (TSX: ONEX, a global asset manager, $642 million purchase price, $563 million fair value at 30 Jun 2026, contractually locked up until 6 Feb 2029).
- Other equity-method or combined-balance items searched and NOT converted into holdings rows, per the rule against assigning a combined balance to one investee: the 10-Q's Other Invested Assets table also shows 'Alternative investments' ($3,048 million at 30 Jun 2026, including hedge funds and private equity funds, no per-fund breakout) and 'All other investments' ($1,605 million, a mixed bucket). Neither names an individual investee, so neither is sized in holdings; see unknowns.
- Vanguard case: PARENT FILED 13F-NT (no holdings) for Q2 2026, so seven successor entities are summed to one register row, per the PNC-style rule. See that row's method_note for the full entity and CIK list.
- Capital Group family: all three CIKs checked for Q2 2026. Capital World Investors and Capital Research Global Investors both hold AIG; Capital International Investors holds zero (checked by CUSIP absence).
- T. Rowe Price: both CIKs checked. T. Rowe Price Associates, Inc. holds AIG (13,777,317 shares, rescaled from the filing's thousands convention, see that row's method_note); T. Rowe Price Investment Management, Inc. holds zero AIG (checked by CUSIP absence).
- Implied share price cross-check across the Q2 2026 13F filers used (BlackRock, all seven Vanguard entities, Wellington, State Street, Harris Associates, Geode, both Capital Group entities): every one clusters at approximately $74.53 per share as of 30 Jun 2026, confirming whole-dollar (not thousands) reporting for all of them; only T. Rowe Price Associates used the thousands convention, rescaled in its row.
- AIG's 2026 proxy 5-percent-holder table (as of the 31 Jan 2026 Table Date) lists only two holders above 5 percent, both sourced from stale Schedule 13G/A filings rather than the fresher 13F-HR data used here: BlackRock, Inc. at 41,200,202 shares (7.7 percent) as of 31 Mar 2025, and The Vanguard Group at 68,482,752 shares (12.8 percent) as of 30 Sep 2025. Per the brief, the fresher Q2 2026 13F-HR figures are used as the primary sourced numbers for both rows, with the stale proxy figures kept in each row's method_note.
- Self-gate, computed on this final file exactly as the chart computes it: 10 register rows (8 institutional 13F/family roll-up rows plus 2 insider rows). Peter Zaffino's 2,177,207 shares counted at full value; the officers-and-directors group's 3,238,630 shares reduced by Zaffino's 2,177,207 to a residual of 1,061,423 to avoid double counting; every other row (BlackRock, Vanguard family, Wellington, State Street, Harris Associates, T. Rowe Price, Geode, Capital Group family) counted at full value since nothing rolls into them. Total: 237,201,564 shares against 522,893,169 shares outstanding, or 45.36 percent. This sits at the upper edge of, but within, the brief's expected 25 to 45 percent band; it was double-checked and reflects genuinely heavy institutional concentration at AIG (BlackRock and Vanguard alone total 22.3 percent) rather than a double count, since each institutional row was independently sourced by CUSIP from a distinct filer's own Q2 2026 info table with no shared entity between rows.
Looked for, not found
Recorded rather than filled in. Each of these is a place where a number could have been invented and was not.
- The identities and individual sizes of the investments inside AIG's 'Alternative investments' ($3,048 million at 30 Jun 2026: hedge funds and private equity funds) and 'All other investments' ($1,605 million) lines in the Other Invested Assets note: no individual fund or investee is named in the Q2 2026 10-Q beyond Convex and Onex.
- Onex Corporation's precise total share count as of AIG's 6 Feb 2026 closing date: the figure used here (100,000 Multiple Voting Shares plus approximately 76,186,484 Subordinate Voting Shares, roughly 76.29 million total) is from Onex's notice of its March 2026 annual meeting, not from the closing date itself, so AIG's 9.9 percent is stated as reported by both companies rather than independently recomputed against a same-day denominator.
- Whether AIG holds any residual equity interest in Fortitude Group Holdings (the legacy reinsurance run-off business it previously part-owned): the Q2 2026 10-Q discusses Fortitude Re only as a reinsurance counterparty under funds-withheld arrangements, with no equity-stake language found; not treated as a holding, but a full-exit disposal citation (like the Corebridge one) was not located either.
- Institutional holders beyond the ones checked (BlackRock, the Vanguard family, Wellington, State Street, Harris Associates, T. Rowe Price both CIKs, Geode, Capital Group all three CIKs) were not exhaustively searched, for example Norges Bank, FMR/Fidelity, Morgan Stanley, or Goldman Sachs, several of which appear in this project's own Q1 2026 register snapshot (data/registers/AIG.json) at smaller size; the register above satisfies the brief's top 8 to 12 range using the largest Q2 2026 holders identified.
- Dollar values for the two insider register rows (Zaffino and the officers/directors group) are null: the proxy's beneficial ownership table gives share counts and an asterisk for 'under 1 percent' but not a dollar value, and no AIG share price as of the 31 Jan 2026 Table Date was independently sourced.
- AIG's own 13F-HR (Rubrik, Inc. position) value field's unit convention (whole dollars versus thousands) was inferred from an implied-price sanity check against Rubrik's actual mid-2026 trading range rather than from an explicit statement in the filing; treated as whole dollars ($2.93 million total) on that basis.
